Recommend HD 6xxx or 7xxx Video Card for 3D

Hi all,
Can someone recommend a great video card that plays back 3D content really, really well? I don't game so I don't need the latest greatest card, but it has to play movies seamlessly. Also, the cheaper the better. I don't really want to spend more than about $60. But can stretch it if it's necessary. Is this possible? Thanks for any advice.

What's the rest of the system specs? There are plenty of CPUs with integrated graphics that are more than capable of seamless 1080p 3D playback.

Win7, I7-920 HP build with a "pegasus" motherboard. 9Gb ram. PCI-e 2.0.. I have the stock radeon 4850? card in there right now. Plays BD but not 3D. Also, the card is starting to overheat and I figure I can kill 2 birds with one stone. Let me know if you want/need any more specs. Thanks!

HD 6450 or HD 6570 is a good choice. (The latter is better for DVD upscaling if you are interested in it.) Recently many video cards have slower DDR3 memory. I recommend 1600MHz effective memory or higher.

I use a HD 6450 and have no issues playing 3d BR's. I use power dvd 11 tmt5 kept crashing

So, based on Renethx's recommendations for 1600mhz clock speed and after a little poking around I have come across two cards that I am considering.

I found some info saying that the 6670 cards get to 64 gb/s of bandwidth which is faster than than the 6450. Does this even matter?

I am eyeing the 2GB card only because I figure, if 1 is good, 2 must be better right? HA

Sapphire HD 6670 DDR3-1600 2GB should be a good choice. HIS IceQ H657QO1G (HD 6570 DDR3-1600 1GB) is another choice, but the price difference after rebate is very small.

The only difference between HD 6570 and HD 6670 is the core clock: 650MHz vs 800MHz. Memory varies with the model. HD 6670 often comes with GDDR5 (4000MHz effective frequency) and such a model is pricier. For video playback, DDR3-1600 1GB is enough.

BTW memory bandwidth is calculated this way:

- memory bandwidth = (memory bus width) x (effective frequency)

HD 6570 / 6670 has 480 Radeon cores and 128bit memory bus, so

- With DDR3-1600, memory bandwidth = (128bit) x (1600MHz) = 204800 Mb/s = 25600 MB/s = 25.6 GB/s
- With GDDR5-4000, memory bandwidth = (128bit) x (4000MHz) = 512000 Mb/s = 64000 MB/s = 64.0 GB/s

HD 6450 has 160 Radeon cores and 64bit memory bus. So the memory bandwidth is halved. But for BR 2D/3D playback, you won't see any difference. If you add more video post processors (deinterlacing, denoise, sharpening etc.), there are differences and 6670 > 6570 > 6450 (">" = "is better than").
