Vixia g10 question- 30p over HDMI

In the g10 manual it states:

pg 148

Appenix- Menu Options Lists
HDMI 1080p Output

If set to ON, when connected to HDTV that supports 1080p, video recordings (made in 1080i) will be converted and output as 1080p.


Has anyone messed around with this? Are you able to capture uncompressed 1080p to external recorder if capturing live or does this only work with pre-recorded (compressed) footage?

Outputting interlaced as progressive over HDMI is a non-feature. I doubt that the camera has better deinterlacer than an average TV set.

Also, if the camera indeed converts to progressive it will convert to 60p, not 30p.
