Samsung dlp no signal from av output jacks

Samsung hlt4675s.
I connect my speakers to the red and white av out jacks on the back of the tv, can't get sound. Is there some silly setting I am missing???

Speakers are not the problem, plugged them into my car rca cables and got sound. Also no problem getting sound from my iphone. RCA cables are ok too, touched them to tv in jacks & get a 60hz hum. Tv is 5 years old, have never used these jacks before.

they are NOT speaker output jacks, they are AV OUTPUT jacks.... they go to your AVR or equivalent.

OK... you are a dumbass... :-) no sure what else you want me to say. IF you want to connect speaker to your TV... you connect them to the "speaker terminals"..... huh????.... :-)

Here is the manual. I'm doing just as it says. I'm thinking there is some setting I am missing somewhere.

OK.... back up, let's go at this slow..... as I can't read your mind on the internet SO you have to be very specific with words (and pictures) as to what you are doing. First off, YOU said you are trying to connect SPEAKERS to your tv (see your first post)... "speakers" IS NOT an AVR or an AMP. So now we can "figure" that you are trying to connect an AVR / AMP to your TV. Good. Now of course, it would be very nice to indicate what rcvr / amp you are trying to connect to.... kind of hard to tell from the picture.... :-) best guess is that there is an audio setting for "variable" versus "fixed" output.... its likely set at "variable".
