XBL Games on Demand Sale

Thread Starter
Just giving everyone a heads up, this sale is starting next week.

The key words are of course "up to". Prepare to be disappointed with a bunch of very non-Steam-like 20% discounts on Games On Demand titles that are already 50% over retail cost. It's too bad too. Games On Demand could easy be a very compelling offering. Microsoft is just too scared of destroying perceived value with discounts. Thankfully, Valve has spent the last five years proving that the exact opposite is true.

I bought Assassin's Creed 2 (GoD) for $10 a few months ago. If it drops below that, awww, man... tongue.gif
post #4 of 16
Anyone else notice they dropped the '4' from call of duty 4 modern warfare? Could be worse-- world at war lost the call of duty all together (although it is in parenthesis... Natch).

I might be game or some KoF if it's cheap enough...

heads-up. each day will have different games on sale so they're using the time pressure to push you to buy...

I wanted to let you know that starting February 26, 2013 and running through March 4, 2013, over 60 Xbox 360 Games on Demand titles will be on sale up to 75% off with some as much as 85% off for the “Xbox Ultimate Game Sale”*
Each day, a different set of titles will be on sale, so be sure to follow me on Twitter where I’ll announce what that day’s special offer. The Ultimate Game Sale only occurs once a year so you won’t want to miss it

Am I the only one thinking they are doing this now since Games on Demand will not be compatible with the next Xbox??

In any case I will definately pickup the Fallout New Vegas and Halo 4 if the price is right, still didn't get around to playing those yet.
Halo Reach is $10 today. Microsoft gave me that for free three times, but I can see how it's a great value for one that doesn't own it yet. I'd buy ODST at $10, but it's a 2-disc game, therefore not allowed on GOD.

Major Nelson posted a list of games that will be reduced for the duration of the sale.

Halo 4 is on sale for $39.99... still $5 more than Amazon?? Not much of an ultimate sale...

Also, anyone know why Halo: CE Anniversary is not even on Games on Demand yet? That I really don't understand.

Dirt 2, Grid, Kane, Tomb Raider Legend, Bioshock, and El Shaddai a re all great deals at $5 or less.

If I were to pick one star of this list, it's El Shaddai. It's a bizarre, Bible-inspired game that didn't see enough attention when it came out. Give it a try!

Making purchases in Microsoft Points is totally broken right now. Trying to buy El Shaddai for $2.99, but it's 480MSP, which is $6. Pay attention if you got to make a purchase! smile.gif

Grid is also $5.50 in MSP for whatever reason.

major nelson says the team is working on fixing the MS points problem. hopefully they extend the sale for people wanting those games.

i had no idea what some of those titles were (like the el shaddai and the darkness). dirt 2 is catching my eye. so is hawx.

alright, I have Forza Motorsport 4, Forza Horizon, Burnout Revenge, and Burnout Paradise as my car racers (also have others like Sega All-Star Racing, MotoGP06, etc.)...

that said, help me choose between Grid and Dirt 2.

if you need more info, love FM4, Forza Horizon, and Burnout Revenge. Hated Burnout Paradise.

Dirt 2 gives you a rally racer, which you don't have. Grid is where the nice rewind feature that you see in Forza was stolen from, if memory serves. I'd say Dirt first, then if it doesn't grab you spend the other $5 and pick up Grid.

Oh, and El Shaddai is now the 240MSP that is should be. I just picked up a copy, along with Kane and probably Grid in a minute. I've already got Dirt 2 on my PC.
