Best floor standing speakers for under $600

Hey all,
I'm building out a 2.1 system for a weekend house. The room is terrible for HT, but it's what I have to work with. 3 story ceilings, lot's of glass, etc.

I almost pulled the trigger on a set of Polk Audio RTI A5's at Newegg for 40% off, but then they didn't have a pair to sell me because I waited too long mad.gif I might wait to see if they get more in.

I've been looking at the Denon 1713 to drive whatever speakers I get, but that is open to debate as well smile.gif

Thoughts on the setup?

I just noticed Newegg has the Polk 75T on sale for $209/ea. How would the a360's compare?

Well I'm not sure how they would compare but the Polk RTI8's are $167 each at Fry's. And the JBL ES80's are $144 each. The RTI's are better than the Monitors. Not sure about the JBL's, I think they are better but maybe someone else here who is more experienced may be able to tell you if you ask.

EDIT: I thought that I would add that the Klipsch WF-35's and the matching center are only $269 at newegg and the center is $169-179 depending on color choice. This is a really good deal and they are very easy to drive with any receiver and a 97db sensitivity. The only catch is that they are on sale because they are being discontinued so if you want the center channel for HT use you must buy that now or possibly never see it again for sale.

The best deal was the Energy RC-70 pair for $598. You're unfortunately a couple days late.

If you can swing the Sierra-1s by ascend I think you'd be getting the best buy for under $1000 and even at $2000 their a solid deal. Read this review

fwiw, have not heard the new line of polk speakers, but if they are similar to the monitor series the a360's are a step up on sound and build imo. boston acoustics is a very good and reputable speaker company and their " a"line of speakers are great sounding, especially for their price. just my 2 cents
