Everything that was in "poor taste" was from the future
, shown to us by William Shatner on the big screen over the stage. James T. Kirk came back from the future to prevent SM from screwing up the Oscars
and he brought back the recording of the show for SM to see what he had done wrong.
All the "classy" song and dance/soft shoe numbers were performed live, because SM was "getting" Kirk's point (courtesy of the headlines from the future), and "altering" his plans for the show.
So - the "poor taste" bits never really "happened", because SM altered his plans for the show, thanks to James T. Kirk coming back in time and showing SM the error of his ways (again, courtesy of the future headlines).
Parody, an interesting concept.Time travel, a concept that always creates far more paradox than it should.
