Help!!! Sony 65" XBR HX950 vs. Panasonic 65" VT50

Hey guys need help. I am in the market for a TV and looking at the Sony XBR 65" HX950 or the Panasonic 65" VT50. I am not sure which one to go with though.

I work for Best Buy and pretty much have come down to these two being the best two that my money can get me at the moment.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

I have been told by someone else that for some reason the 65" XBR is known to get dead pixels and something called DSE. I am not sure if any of that holds true but and input it great.

I am leaning to the XBR a little more at the moment though.

Currently have the 65HX950 and a 65VT30 and returned a 65VT50.... depends on how you watch TV and amount you are willing to spend. The 65HX950 is twice the cost of the 65VT50. If you plan on watching TV during the day or in a well lit room, the 65VT50 is probably not right for you. If you only watch in a dark room, then the 65VT50 might be an option if you don't mind plasma. I personally prefer my 65HX950, but at twice the cost it is a big investment. You should do some research on the LED vs Plasma debate to help decide which technology better suits your viewing habits.

I don't know where this notion of the VT50, or even the GT and ST50 for that matter, don't handle brighter rooms well came from. That's just not true. Multiple users on here have commented on how well those exact FP's are handling the well lit rooms and some have even posted photos. People need to stop automatically saying "It's a plasma, it can't handle bright rooms, buy an eye-searing LCD."

That being said, both are extremely solid FP's. You can't go wrong either way. But if I'm choosing, I'd book the VT50. Done and done.

My first flat panel was a 55" HP Plasma. It finally died after 9 years of really a great tv. My living room is bright windows, lights and I never had a problem with TV viewing during daytime. Very bright and clear picture. I never had burn in either. This time around I did purchase a Sony 950 55" and I'm happy with this set also. I say look and compare you couldn't go wrong with either one. Panny VT50 and a Samsung ES8000 was also on my short list. I chose Sony because I purchased their pj a VW90ES and I really liked the PQ.

In my case, the notion comes from the fact that I own them both so it's not just automatically saying it. In my home theater, hands down the HX950 is superior in daylight or well lit viewing conditions compared to my VT30 and the VT50 I returned. I never said the VT50 couldn't handle it, it just doesn't perform to its maximum capabilities in daylit rooms so depending on ones viewing conditions, the VT50 might not be the best choice.
