The remote is exactly like the one that comes with the Homeworx HW-150PVR except that it has the viewtv logo instead of the homeworx logo.
Under SYSTEM within the menu it says:
SW VERSION: 20130000 V1
HW VERSION: ABL7816_ATSC_09
The buttons in the front of the unit are for power on/off, menu, OK button, volume up/down, and channel up/down.
Hope this info helps.
It sounds like you can use Homeworx firmware since the remotes are the same. But believe it or not, Mediasonic actually sold two different versions of the Homeworx remote! Both versions are identical except for the labels on the buttons. Needless to say, you need the correct firmware to match the layout of your remote; otherwise some buttons won't function as labelled. So you might want to post a pic anyway, or at least check the Homeworx thread (where you can see the new remote layout) to confirm yours matches button-for-button. The Homeworx thread would also be your best bet for online support since ViewTV doesn't seem to have any Internet presence.
The latest Homeworxes have (believe it or not, again) firmware version V1. (The previous version was V14
) So it sounds like your V/AT-163 has basically the same V1 QAM firmware available (on request) for the latest Homeworxes. So, if Mediasonic ever releases a firmware update for Homeworx V1 boxes (don't hold your breath, though), chances are good that you can use it too. The only difference might be support for those front-panel buttons.
