Recommendations for replacing a Boxee Box - Page 2

Cody at Box Top Theatre told me he will receive the first batch tommow, Thursday 18 July. I should have it very soon. Csn't wait to try it out. I may order a second and cancel my cable tv subscription. I just hope I can watch live sports, Nascar, F1 Racing. Just dowloaded the User Manual from the site below. Looks very promising. Also it mentions an HDMI cable is provided. I was about to go out and buy one, saved myself a few bucks lol

But when was the last time that a media-streamer worked as advertised when first released? Ever?

The specs look good and the price is right. But I would hold out for the reviews, having been burned many times before.

We are a jaded lot. I'll certainly be in "wait and see" mode. After all, the Boxee Box had HD audio "fixed" several times that I know of. And also claimed a future Hulu Plus app at launch!

would the jailbroken apple tv2 be considered a good media player for XBMC?

Maybe, but the fact that it can't do better than 720p discourages many of us from even trying it.

XBMC has been ported to the Boxee Box

You can get the latest builds from http://devil-strike.com

You will need to install Boxee+ http://boxeeplus.com first to get telnet access on the Boxee Box. What I did is copy both Boxee+ and XBMC on the same SD card.

Dear All,

I have had my Boxee Box for 4 years, and I still love it. We ,also, have a couple of rokus which I like very well, but the Boxee Box is still my favorite. I would urge anyone who is willing, to update to the Boxeeplus and maybe xmbc as advised here. I did not update to xbmc yet. I added Bartside repo which is a 3rd party repo which added navi-x.That is a very lucrative addition to the box.

I may add a wireless keyboard to this which for me would be an improvement over the little remote. The little supplied remote is good , but for me typing on a larger keyboard would be easier, faster and less limited.  If there is something out there that matches or beats this device I would love to know about it.

May the Blessings Be.

What is the advantage of running XBMC on boxee?
