New receivers with 6 channel direct inputs?

I have an older H/K receiver that I love but am thinking about replacing for something with HDMI support. I like having the 6 channel direct inputs because I have a Yamaha DVD audio/SACD player hooked up to it. I have been looking but havent seen any with these inputs. I realize it is an old technology thats not really supported anymore. Does anyone make a receiver that has HDMI and direct inputs? Or should I just give up on it?

Also, Im not looking to spend thousands on one. I was hoping to find one under 1k.

I think you are flat out of luck on this one. If you want to go to an HDMI receiver you may as well get a new blue ray at the same time. the hdmi cares the same information as SACD. I was thinking of looking for a blue ray with scad for a AVR that I had with the scad in puts for loss/less audio, no luck on that so I replaced both and am pleased with the result.

Thanks for the info. I will check out the Marantz avr's.

I wasnt really interested in buying a stand alone BD player as I use an HTPC with a BD drive for that.

I really like the looks of the Marantz SR5006. For $499 it has all the options I was looking for. I have never purchased a refurb before, but I might just consider it.

I just hope the Marantz sounds just as good when hooked up to my Klipsch mains as the H/K does. I always thought the H/K was the best match for Klipsch speakers.

Im so glad this forum exists, I always get good info when trying to find something or when making a decision. Thanks again for the help!

Replacing your Yamaha DVD/SACD player with a $150 ($100 on sale) Sony BDP-S590 Blu-Ray player that supports SACD could be cheaper option even if you don't use its Blu-Ray functionality. This would let you use any AV recevier not just the more expensive models that have multichannel inputs. It would also let you use the bass management, room correction and other DSP effects of the receiver. The mulitchannel input of an AV receiver completely bypasses the DSP.

If you don't use your HTPC for games, that Sony Blu-Ray player with its network connectivity could potentially replace your HTPC as well.

Don't worry about refurbished from accessories4less.com they have a good warranty and if Marantz is anything like Onkyo you can get a good deal on a extended warranty from them when you register the receiver
