CIH with Isco lens - Projector height above screen

Hi,

I have searched but can't find the answer to this:

Is it ok to mount a projector and A-lens in a soffit hush box over the height of the top of the screen?

I've made a hush box to let the lens sit at the top of the screen but the box is over a walkway, and looks very big and bulky. I'd like to raise the box up so the bottom of the box is flush with the bottom of the soffit.

My projector is a JVC HD350, Screen width will be about 3.5m at 2.35:1

Thanks!

Steve

Vertically raising the ISCO/Projector should not present any problems. You will need to make sure that -
1. you have enough lens shift in the HD350 and
2. you can position the ISCO lens so that the beam still passed through the centre.

This may required it being lower then the projector. You tilt the lens down if you have uneven pincushion, not to compensate for the height of the set up.

A pic or two of your set up will help heaps as well.

Thanks Mark.

The projector will be 18 ft from the screen. The box is 26 inches wide internally to accommodate the offset lens on the projector and cables.

I'll be able to test the setup tomorrow to see if I can cut the bottom off the hush box

WOW that is an impressive looking room. Your hush box looks good and if you cut the base off, should match really well with the rest of the soffit. However, it could also be made to be a feature of the room and I have seen this done a few times.

Full build thread is on the UK avforums site as it is more local to me in Ireland. It's at:

An 18 x 13ft FOSI star ceiling build is starting tomorrow, and all the fabric frames for the walls have been finished last week. I have 11 ken Kreisel Quattro speakers and three 12012 subwoofers arriving in the next few days. Will run these with an onkyo 3010 amp, Cinepro 6 channel power amp and AB amps 5400 5 channel amp.

To say I can't wait to be finished would be an understatement!
