Need a remote - confused on options!

Hi all,
Looking to get a new universal remote for my "man cave". I am going to rearrange my room and place the components behind the main sitting position.

My components are as follows:
Receiver - Onkyo TX-NR709
TV - Panasonic GT50
Xbox
PS3
Motorola DCX cablebox/DVR

Budget wise I don't want to spend more than 300 if at all possible.

Do I need to switch to an RF system? If so how do I connect all my components? not sure if they are rf (I dont even know where to start with this technology)

Can I keep my harmony one and do something to extend the reach of the ir signal behind me?

If you look at the sketch above, my tv is on the wall just to the left of the crawlspace entrance. I want to move the components to the little niche between the window and furnace area.

Keep the Harmony One and get an IR Extender. Read the Remote Control FAQ at the top of this forum page.

An RF remote system requires your components to have IR inputs. If you have RF only components then an RF universal remote cannot control it. A RF universal remote communicates to devices using either IR directly from the remote or RF from the remote to its RF to IR base station.

Then there are options such as IP control using smartphones/tablets that can control some components directly via IP using WiFi or IP to IR using a converting device (iTach).
