I need to clean this up.  There was also a 0 instead of an Off and other minor things.

You can still access it, just not add anything to it.

I hope this chart is of help to folks.

why don't you turn it into a form and people can submit it and it'll add results to the next sheet.

tools -> create a form

Multiple mistakes might mean lots of entries into the same form.  Not sure.

I think I have a solution that's easier.  It'll either have "protected" regions, or an "editable" copy that will get moved over to the Read-Only periodically.

what issues were you seeing exactly? i didn't notice any... and i've only seen a handful of people accessing it at once.

did you try refreshing the page?

Just received my 70" R550A yesterday eve... very disapointed to see an unacceptable amount of clouding...it's only visible in blank, black screens, but it would definitely drive me nuts. I have numerous LED's at home and the cottage, and have mostly stuck with Samsung. This is my first foray in a very long time into anything Sony. The sammy's are generally slimmer, lighter and sexier looking. I have been lucky in not having clouding, banding, etc with my units. I am ordering a replacement today, and will report back once I have that one up and running. It's a good thing I tested this behemoth before wall mounting it!

Sorry, forgot to mention, it's a May 2013 build date, SN number starting with 66017XX.

Interested in the 70 incher. Im a little hesitant on purchasing after reading a "cloudiness" issue? Do any of you guys have the tv and possibly could elaborate on the picture quality etc..

Im looking to replace a 73 inch mitsu. I have looked at the 65ST60 which gets great reviews.

is there any input lag

Has anybody found the wifi in these TVs slow? Also the Sony apps seem to run very slow and laggy well their whole smart hub in general is really slow and I hate that.

Ok, here is the current link to the table of settings.  I'm moving things around considerably.  All other links are dead.  I'm going back and changing them all to the new one.

Turns out there is a bug in protected ranges (or else it behaves entirely differently from excell in a way I can't quite predict).

Further, the aggregation column is removed because I found it of dubious use, but I also found it broke the export & import mechanism to and from excell 2003 using the 2007 converter, which I was also using to convert to HTML for forum entry.

Use this link to add your KDL-xxR550A Settings.  Pick a column unused, and please leave the other columns alone.

If the above table has been corrupted, feel free to use this READ-ONLY version.  You can't add anything to it, and it's not as up to date: it's just a way to keep things from getting mucked up.  I'll move things over to here for safe keeping.

I had my 70 inches R550A tv for 2 weeks now. It worked flawlessly until yesterday....

When I tried to open a game I downloaded from the PSN on my PS3 (hdmi input), the screen turned completely dark. I could still hear the sound in the backfround but just nothing on the screen! I tried to open the setting menu from the remote but it did not even show up. Except the picture is off everthing seemed to be working fine. I have to

1.) Turn off and turn on the tv again to see the pictures. OR
2.) Turn on Neflix and exit OR
3.) Press the "Input" button to another input, wait the screen shows the other input and switch it back to the PS3 input.

It did not happen before. Does anyone have the same issue or did I get a defective tv? Thanks.

That's really awesome that you created that. I'll surely be visiting it again when my set arrives. Thanks for your time, effort and skills in creating a central location for probably the most asked about thing on here (settings). Man, all "official monitor owner" threads should have this. Great job!

The first thing I would suspect is a bad HDMI cable or one that was not 3D capable. I would swap it with a known good 1.4 cable and test again.

There are very few reports of clouds or flash-lighting on the R550A. Most never see any on regular content. I see none at all on mine. If you are on vivid with full back-light you might see problems but who actually watches at those eye searing levels... There are many reviews throughout this thread commenting on picture quality of this Sony. I for one find it quite good and am happy I purchased the 70" model. Since you already have a 73" Mitsu, you already know that size really adds to the emersive experience while watching. Just my opinion, but I think the Sony has the best picture quality of this year's 70" LCD/LED models.

have you tried pressing the picture off button on your remote then again?

or unplugging the hdmi and plugging it back in to see if it fixes the hdmi connection

if it still doesnt work simply unplugged everything. The TV, and the PS3, and the HDMI cable from both the TV and the PS3. plug the tv back into the outlet then the hdmi cable then the ps3 power. see if it fixes it

I agree wholeheartedly. Terrific job. Even though there are only 5 sets of settings it's pretty obvious that a pattern is emerging. Of the settings that make a big difference in the picture it looks like Warm vs Neutral is the kicker. Again great job.

I had this exact problem before and found this review on amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/review/RJP0JE5EY8YXO/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00AWKBZKC&nodeID=172282&store=electronics

Followed the instruction to unplug while they both are on and disconnect cables
This seems to solve the problem. Doesn't make sense but it works

yup the browser is slow, the apps are sluggish, but i have no buffing issues with netflix / hulu streaming.

Agreed. The Warm vs. Neutral is a big factor - and I personally believe that it can change depending upon the program material you're viewing. When I watch a black & white source. Neutral is the only way to go. Warm is too reddish looking, adding an almost sepia tone to the show.

In certain color shows or movie, a warm setting is preferable - so it really depends. I entered Neutral because that's my starting point. If I detect that a movie is too "cold" looking, I might switch on the warm temperature and fiddle with the hue.

i'm sure every TV you will have a few talk about cloudiness issues. read through the thread, a few have returned a bad set and most received a perfect one right after and only a few got another dud.

I have the 70" and everything is perfect. I did not have to exchange my set at all. There are no cloudiness, no dse, no blobs, no light leaking. I cannot complain one bit on the picture quality.

the only thing i can complain is the browser and apps are sluggish.

I'm looking at the 60" and have a question for you guys. Wife is insistent on an ultra-slim wall mount. I found one from Monoprice that will mount almost flush. But after I saw the TV in the store yesterday and noticed the speaker housing at the bottom of the screen, I'm not sure this low profile mount will work. Anybody mounted one? Can you recommend a good mount? Will the ultra slim work? Got to keep the wife happy. She's pushing for the Samsung ES7100. But I like this better. Thanks all!

Can anyone recommend a good slim wall mount for the 70" Sony?
Thanks.

So I just got the 70" version tonight and also bought the Bose T20 Home theater system (everything runs through the Bose system and a single HDMI cable runs from the Bose to the TV, nothing else goes to the TV) and Panasonic 3D Blu-Ray player to complete everything. Got it home, got it all hooked up. Updated the firmware for the blu-ray player, put in Avatar in 3D and it looked good on simulated 3D. Did a system update on the Bose system which allowed true 3D and put Avatar in again and it looked amazing. I then went to watch another 3D Blu-Ray and the screen went all black. I could hear the sound, but not see the picture. I pulled that one out, put in a 3rd 3D Blu-Ray and got picture & sound once again. I am assuming I have a bad DVD and that's why the video isn't working on the one (although like I said I can hear the sound). The DVD in question has both the standard version and 3D versions on the same disc but I am never given the option to select either version before the screen goes black. Before I return the video to the store tomorrow I be missing something here? Thanks in advance

Obviously if you can, try the disc on another tv and / or player to make sure it is the disc.

Make sure you have a 1.4 version HDMI cable. Some of the 1.3 versions don't work or work sporadically with 3D.
Ya, it sounds like a cable issue
Help please. I'm pretty much a dweeb when it comes to streaming but since this is a smart TV I thought I'd give it a try. I watched a preview on VUDU but all I got was picture and no sound. Everything is run through a Yamaha receiver with the receiver doing the switching. I guess I thought it would provide sound from whatever was on the screen but the sound stayed connected to the golf broadcast. I must be doing something wrong here but don't know what.

Did you ever figure this out? Sometimes mine will connect but only get sound, its all pixelated and black.

If you figured out how to do this can you send me a pm. Also are you rooted how did you disable HDCP I do not see it in Dev Options on phone.

You're 3D disc isn't bad, nor your HDMI cable.

Go to ECO under Home or Options or Settings. Then turn off everything under ECO menu.

The TV is going into standby mode on purpose when no signal is sent during loading of a long load up of 3D movie, I think. Ironically it's not the "Auto Off" setting, i think it's the 2nd or 3rd one down in ECO mode. Just turn off everything under ECO and turn them on one by one to see which one is the culprit. It's weird that Sony didn't think about load times, even with their own PS3 fat and slim (I tested both when I didn't know the answer)

Just joined to help you out and This is my FIRST POST!
