I noticed that no one has set this up using cinema picture mode settings yet. It is confusing to find.
Guys, I still don't understand this Options vs. Home->Settings thing.
There was a couple options for darkening the stand in the beginning of the thread and here and there in the forum. One involved a kind of dimming sticker that is easy to apply and take off if you wanted to experiment a bit. Another was a kind of spray-on plastic that can be removed as well. I'm wondering if this is the reason they decided to tilt the TV back a small amount. I'm also wondering if this is worse on the 50: the bulk of the lighting is lower on that TV and the stand is different.
They really should not have crippled this TV so badly with their software. By the way, I have to retract a little: the LLE is still a bit more than I thought. I must've been watching "lucky" movies before. Crap.
What this TV needs is a remapping system. Maybe something external? Kind of like a Darbee Darblet, but that just worries about color table lookup. Then you could beat down the crazy reds.
Note: I don't regret this TV at all. I'm just wondering what it is about my settings that has beaten back LLE so far, yet it still shows up with a >wham< on cable broadcasts. Where is that line drawn I wonder....
I haven't experimented with this one yet, but I thought I'd ask if anyone here already has:
I was curious if this was possible. I understand the chances are likely zero, even though (to me at least) it seems like it would be very useful:
I suppose I could always have the receiver intercept the sound, and send a delayed center channel to the TV. But it would require the receiver stripping out the sound of the HDMI stream so that it could then send the center channel (by HDMI or RCA).
Just a thought.
