Me too. It's in my cart but can't checkout. Hopefully having it in my cart saves me one. Good luck to anyone else trying to secure one of these.

I doubt it because frys website is for everything. And it says it's for store pickup only. There is no way for fry's "cart" to know which store is yours. This is gonna be, first one lucky enough to break through to get it, I'm affraid.
Well I finally got through, and was able to "find nearest stores". Item unavailable. Thanks fry's for wasting an hour and a half of my life.
I called customer service and they said my location still has a few available. So even though it appeared to go through to the chose location and it said unavailable I guess it's just a system error. I'm gonna have to keep refreshing these every 5 seconds for God knows how long now. frown.gif On top of that I lost a filling and I can't eat or drink or my teeth hurts like ****. Oh well good luck to any one not in my area.
what really pisses me off is that I selected all stores, and some are available in CA and IN, and a few others. And mine is one of the ones unavailable.
I was able to get through for the 60", store pickup only. Took a break for awhile and came back to the site and it went through. Keep trying!

my scenerio

-my locaiton says non available
- phone rep says few in stock
- I try all locations and see some available some not, which makes me think he is wrong and atleast that portion of the website is working.

The only way I get one is if for some weird reason, the traffic created a bug and makes it show unavailable in locations where it really is available. And I have one in IN 176 miles away. frown.gif I wonder if I should buy it and try to work with them to make it so I can get one some how.
well I decided to not wait for a set in IL to show up (which I doubted would happen) and click to order the one in IN and I even got an error during checkout.

Man Fry's really scewed this up. After all that stress and time they better give me a raincheck after all I went through. I know if this was the exact same TV on sale on Amazon I would have gotten it. Because their servers are titanium, and I started at the very first second. So there is no reason I should not have gotten a TV.

I feel you. got all the way to finalizing my checkout. When I hit finalized...it said sorry but there was an error and my order didn't go through and to try again. Then of course, it said sold out when I tried again. Wasted almost 3 hrs. Sucks!

I'm having some lip sync delays on this my 70" with regular cable and when I watch through hdmi with my asus oplay player. Netflix seems to be working just fine though. Is there a way to enter the service menu and correct this?

If you got to check out and it was a frys you can actually get to (unlike me) then you might have a case to haggle CS and convince them to provide you a raincheck since it was their server error and you had one if not for their error. In my case I selected a store 177 miles away so. .

My problem is that I can't prove to them I got that far. Now it shows sold out at all 3 stores near me. I tried to get amazon to price match but was not successful. mad.gif
post #3103 of 3981
now to cross fingers for amazon cyber monday. Or wait til January. Thanks stupid frys. So glad I don't shop there any more.
well I ordered one from OR. I'm gonna give them hell for what I went through. See if I can convince them to ship it to my store or give me a raincheck.
God that is a stupid company!!!! i would bite but on this the ad said no store pickup only shipping @ 1.50 a mile and now its in store only!!! This place can't make their minds up. I would bite if they were a bit closer frown.gif

Hey guys, I got the KDL-70R550A reserved at frys for pickup tomorrow.. I currently have a KDL-55NX810

Obviously the KDL-55NX810 is much better looking in terms of aesthetics and clearly 70" is going to make my games much more playable since my couch is pretty far.. However in terms of PQ and features do you guys think it's a good upgrade?

Was reading up on this forum and it looked like some people were having uneven backlighting issues and blobs. Has Sony done anything to resolve these? My guess would be no based on my previous experience with Sony customer support. Some would say I'm dumb for even buying another Sony tv based on that experience. Problem is CS sucks for all of these mfrs. I've gotten the same crap from Samsung frown.gif

The price is amazing but Frys has a pretty horrible return policy on these I hear. If it's defective you can only exchange it. and I doubt they'll have any in stock after BF

How bout the fact that you just got one and didn't have to refresh for 3 hours and get nothing, make it so you just shut up?

j/k, congrats. I would say don't worry about it, it's a great TV.
I guess now I'm on my daily check frys/bestbuy/amazon think like I did after missing black friday last year for the panasonic passive LED. If I'm lucky and it goes similarly the sony will go on sale again some time mid december to early january. I'm not paying more than $1599 + tax for this thing.

Well, I know everyone is going crazy right now with Black Friday deals, but I have something new to report.

I dropped by Future Shop (Canada) for their "VIP Sale" yesterday, and spent a good hour in front of a KDL-70R550A. Lucky for me, it had a Blu-ray player connected to it and comfy leather chairs in front of it. The sales guy provided me with a copy of The Dark Knight, which proved to be a great test disc.

At any rate, I can attest that the "bleeding blue" artifact Cnet talked about is definitely there. While watching The Dark Knight (and initially busily playing with the TV settings), I first noticed the artifact in a scene around 26 minutes into the movie on a rooftop with Batman, Commissioner Gordon, and Harvey Dent. The camera circled around them as they were having an argument, and in the backdrop there were many buildings and windows panning by. Preceding the edges of the windows and the sides of the buildings were vertical blue lines. The lines weren't very thick, but they were noticeable enough, and after noticing them the first time I started seeing the artifact in other dark scenes. What's more disturbing is when I switched to Vivid mode, the blue lines all but disappeared. confused.gif

After that, I decided that this TV wasn't for me, so last night I purchased a 70" Sharp LE650U. While I was still at the store, I played back the same scene from Dark Knight on this TV and there were no bleeding blue artifacts. I'll be picking it up tomorrow and hopefully I'll be happy with it. wink.gif

bleeding blue artifact? Is this something that is widespread with these tvs?
This blue edge bleeding must be a rare oddity cause aside from the Cnet review and some talk of it here on the forum, it has never once been mentioned in any of the hundreds of user reviews I've ever read whether from Amazon, Best Buy, Sonystyle, HSN, QVC, Sears, Walmart etc...it's simply just not mentioned ever! Along with this is the "blob effect" that I've only seen mention twice in any review outside of talk here on the forum, both "issues" are generally either rare and/or only noticed by a select group of people.

My first TV of this big, upgraded from a 5 year old 32" samsung, I feel display is little washed out, color rendition is not good ( blue, green and black), maybe I need to shell out more money for a high end Sony.  In Frys I saw a 47" 8X sony, the picture was stunning on it.

Finally got mine. went to frys at like 2pm and the checkout line was freaking rediculous. took an hour or so. Anyway took it home, I was right that the NX810 is definitely mreally ore elegant than thiis unit. But for 70" it's hard to complain about asthetics as much as the chrome stand makes me want to puke.

One thing that kind of sucks is that mine has that uneven backlighting and flashlighting. I have brighter spots on the top left, right and in some areas. It's damn noticeable on a completely black screen. Gonna suck for really dark screen.s Other than that looks good.

also passive 3d is def better than the active 3d on my NX810 unit. Less ghosting and less hassle with powered glasses.

I Guys i need help ,

i bought the Sony KDL-60R550 yesterday at future shop , i got a great deal with free ht ct260h sound bar included in the package for 1399$

I hooked it up tonight and started watching hockey when i noticed on the ice 2 large grayish bars right in the middle, i did a google search on the tv to get a clear white page and this is what i got , its much more apparent on the tv those 2 big lines run up and down almost makes a U , you can see them on each side of the google search box ...

I took those pictures and went to future shop tonight they told me that this is not normal and it is a defect, they offered to exchange the tv .

I still have the opportunity to get a refund and i am kinda disappointed with the situation i never had any problems and always owned sony tv'S .

Now should i keep it ? is this a common problem ? will i risk having the same thing with the replacement set ?

I bought it to replace a kdl55ex500 i was pretty satisfied with but getting a 60'' passive 3d with sound bar was too tempting to pass..

Should i Refund and wait Next year for OLED ??

Please help !!

I would like to keep it but now i feel i lost confidence in this model.

after a bit more of use, looks like the flashlight and uneven backlight is truly the biggest issue with this set. For mine it's on all 4 corners. Annoying..............
Anyone know if Sony will do anything to fix this as I doubt the store even has any in stock to do exchanges.

This tv had clouding all over the bottom left and right. Totally visible in the letterboxed region and even was strikingly visible with content on screen. It really made feel better about my 60". Good thing I didn't return that. The 70" is going back. I really cannot believe that SONY puts out this garbage and thinks it's ok. Where do I write an email to sony corporate.

I'm in a dark room here. Of course it is much more subdued here in the pics.

Here with LOTR in a pretty dark scene. The clouding really takes over and destroys the picture. The whole right edge has contrast issues and has that big white cloud at the bottom right.

really makes me want to vomit.

Pretty much looks like mine............. Not sure what I should do since I doubt the store has any to exchange
post #3119 of 3981
I was just going to ask about the flashlighting and clouding on this TV as I am trying to decide between this Sony and the Vizio M series in 70". Looks like they both suffer from this problem.

I currently have a Samsung 60es7500 and the micro dimming feature basically removes all the flashlighting and clouding on the TV so it still looks great in a totally dark room. Better then any other LED I have tried. Not sure now if the increase in size will be worth dealing with flashlighting and screen uniformity issues. I dealt with that while I tried many LG TV's before getting the Sammy and it was something that I could not stop focusing on and I was unable to concentrate on anything I would watch on the TV.

Anything more expensive then these 2 sets are out of my price range so it pretty much comes down to either this Sony, the Vizio or stick with the 60" I have now. I really wanted to go bigger though since I sit about 14ft away.

Is that due to being edge lit? I have it on really dark scenes, but most scenes aren't that dark. I get a very good picture otherwise
