Too bad that Yadis 3.0 is probably not going to be done any time soon. I still got Zappiti and Yadis running, but now I'm using 10Muse + iPad, and currently testing out Plex since the iPad will have a jukebox with it and play the movies at the same time.
i know that this is smething i should have done months ago. But at least this will be usefull for people before 3.0 will be out (and it's not for tomorrow i think) and a good basis for a 3.0 tutorial as many things will always stay the same (dune path, naming,...)

I just finished installing Plex Media Server, scrapping all my Movies and TV shows. I paid for the $5 dollar app for the iPad, which works on the iPhone as well. I can stream any movie and tv show from my server to my iPad and iPhone, and the jukebox is pretty nice. I'm going to have to test playing my movies / tv shows at my parents' house.

That's pretty cool.... I forget.... why didn't you like Zappiti?

Zappiti no longer remember, which movies and TV shows I've watched, or didn't finish watching. Whenever I go to recently added, it pretty much shows me all of my movies. The other little detail is doesn't scrape the correct HD audio for the movies. Since, BD movies had DTS-MA, Zappiti uses DTS, and I've got to manually change it every time.

Zappiti is a nice jukebox, and I still like it. I think Yadis is a better looking jukebox with the only drawback being the TV Show support, which show all the single episodes like Zappiti does. I like the look of Yadis over Zappiti. 10Muse was a little bit more work to get is dialed in, but over all it is an excellent jukebox specially when you combine it with the iPad app. I think Yadis still looks better than 10Muse, but the control and convenience of using the iPad is well worth it.

Now, PLEX. Lets just say it is an awesome software for the iPad / iPhone. The jukebox is nice, and the best part is that you can play movie in the iPad and iPhone as well within and outside your network. However, the quality will vary depending on your internet connection. Over all, well worth the $5 dollars for the iPad / iPhone app. I'm actually thinking of paying the life time membership, which is $75 dollars.biggrin.gif

We have a Samsung TV in our bedroom that has the Plex Client available. Over a wired connection, we can stream our BR rips to it no problem with minimal transcoding.

For the living room home theater, I've got the Dune TV303D, which I'm thinking of selling to get a Roku box or Apple TV. I will then move the Dune D1 from the master bedroom to the living room. I don't want any transcoding in my living room HT. I don't care about transcoding to the Roku / Apple TV, iPads or iPhone.

I have the dune d-1 and, as you know, a NAS box on the way in which I am leaning towards unraid. I really dont need the ability to have juke box items on my desktop and idevices.

I do use an ipad mini as my main remote, and it controls the dune as well. I had envisioned using the ipad remote to browse movies and tv shows on the big screen with the dune being the source.

I really have no need for the ipad app that i can see.

Can plex work in the same way?

I don't use Plex with my Dunes, I only use it for my iPads. I use 10Muse for my dunes, which works as a jukebox and IP remote control.

How would you compare the appearance of the 10Muse jukebox on your TV to Yadis and Zappiti? How does 10Muse handle Box Sets?
Yadis has a better look than Zappiti and 10Muse, but I hardly use the TV jukebox. I mainly use the iPad app instead, which acts as a remote control as well.

10Muse has a Multi-Dusk option for box set. You can read about it in the "How to" done by Damian: http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2012/09/03/guide-setting-up-10muse-for-remote-video-playback-on-the-dunepch/

Why does my Base 3D say "RESTART" on the front panel? I have to switch It off and on In the back to get It to work again... frown.gif

Im going to have to try it again. I didnt like the color scheme 10muse had. I prefer Yadis and Zappiti(black/silver screen not the default red)

How often does this happen? What are you doing just before this happens?

Just turning on my projector and AV receiver. It happens at random times.

My Dune TV303D is for sale on the classified section if anyone is interested.

You're not the only one that this is happening too. This happens to me randomly as well when turning on. I'm hoping for a new firmware soon to squash this bug. This is my biggest gripe with the software, besides no Netflix.

On a side note I noticed a couple weeks ago that the fan blades were missing from the exhaust fan. I figured it out after watching a movie from the internal drive. The unit felt extremely hot. At first I thought the fan just wasn't turning, but upon closer inspection I noticed the blades were missing. When I opened up my Base3d there were the blades NOT attached to the fan. I pushed the blades back on but the fan only turns on intermittently now. Mike has once again been helpful and has a new fan on the way for me. I haven't had the best of luck with this device, but it plays everything flawlessly across my network. The only video I've had that wouldn't play was 10bit video, but pretty much any media player currently out there won't play 10bit videos yet.

My Dune TV303D has been traded for a i5 CPU + mobo combo biggrin.gif Time to start getting parts to build a more powerful server!

Nice trade! No longer going with XBMC?

No, I was not able to do what I wanted. May be in the future XBMC will be able to have Netflix and Hulu work within XBMC, and not adding WMC for that. I'm currently using 10 Muse as my Jukebox for my Dune Smart Series D1 and use the iPad as a remote / jukebox as well. I am using Plex as a jukebox and streamer for my iPads.

I need a more powerful server to help Plex transcode and stream outside the network. I am pretty impressed with Plex capabilities.

Plex is a great server. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to play my high-bitrate MKVs wireless, when I had my 303D. Plus, it works very well with all the 1080p-anemic smartphones and tablets lingering around the household. Good luck!

I agree. It's an excellent software. I just got a Roku 3 box, and it plays everything from my server without issues. It is a nice media player, but I am not too happy with the Plex UI. Tomorrow, I will be returning it, and I will be trying out the Apple TV.

I particularly don't like the Plex UI, either. Everytime I use Plex on my smartphone, it gives off a look as though there's a foul odor in the air. biggrin.gif

I like the looks of Plex on the iPad and iPhone better than Rokus.
