I need to test out the new MediaBrowser3 to see how it compares against Plex.

Technology has been betraying me at home of late. Had server issues which I finally narrowed down to drives dropping off connected to a bad RAID card. Finally get this fixed and literally 5 minutes later my PC HDD crashes. My Smart B1 can't connect to the network, but I think the switch it is connected to went bad. My TV303D just flaked out on me. The hits keep on coming lol.

That sucks man. I just spent about 12 hours testing Roku 3 and ATV3 and using Plex for my bedroom, and I was very disappointed. I would of been satisfied by using Plex via iPad and using airplay to the ATV, but there were too many buffering issues.

I wish I had pulled the trigger on the Dune Max that was on eBay for $225 buy it now option, but I really thought Plex + Roku was going to be the best option. Oh well.

Hi, I've got 303D and I'm having issues playing back .mp4 files. when i click on some (not all) I get the 'can't play file error' but the file plays ok on my dune 301 without error. my 303D is up to date with the latest firmware.

any help on this annoying error will be really appreciated.

cheers

I just move to a Dune smart B1 and I am pretty happy with my move smile.gif

I used a Popcorn Hour A400 and a Dune Base 3D but none of those rock like the Smart. Full menu, no bugs and even a blu ray disk in case I need one smile.gif

May be a mp4 codec compatibility issue. you can covert it to MKV with MKVMerge - it should work then.

Does anyone have an update on yaDis? I know the developer is working on the new update after losing most of his work. Having to manual create titles is a pain, so just looking for any news?

I try looking on mpcclub but that place is terrible to navigate!

How is the quality of 3d iso file that is run in hd base 3d from nas? Does hd base 3d support 7.1 audio? Does it support dts hd-ma?When watching something that has 2.0 audio..can it upmix it to 7.1?
base 3D is able to play any 5.1/7.1 HD audio. there's nothing like 2.0 to 7.1 upmix simply because it doesn't make any sense and if you really want this (atrocious) kind of things your AVR should be able to do it through its various DSP.

Dear all --

I still own a DUNE HD-DUO (love it!) and have recently purchased the Dune HD Base 3D. I am having an image problem though and I hope some of you pundits can help me solve it. I use the 12 bit color setting, 1080p/24 to watch both movies and TV shows. The problem: every now and then the image sort of flutters, as if the movie FF a few frames. Sometimes it gets really annoying. This has NEVER happened to my HD Duo. Could anybody please tell me if there's a way so solve this problem our should I send the unit for repair?
Thanks a bunch for your help!

hi there,
I try here before eventually creating a thread.
I developed a Music Jukebox application (Dune Music Manager : (http://www.avsforum.com/t/1487361/enjoy-your-music-on-a-dune-with-dune-music-manager-dmm) . It is based on the classic dune_folder.txt mechanism. As such it is of course static, no search possible. I'm looking at ways to make it more dynamic.
It is already compatible with DMC from Babachan.
I'd love to be able to create an iOS equivalent allowing to navigate and search the music db, however I don't have a Mac nor experience on ObjectiveC.

I was therefore thinking of exporting not only a dune_folder based tree hierarchy but also an HTML site for the same content.
My idea was therefore to access the site through the dune HTTP web server to view and play (via IP control API) the music.

To be generic and simple enough, I'd need to instruct the httpd daemon of the Dune to map other folders that the Dune can access as valid target for the Dune Web server.

I was looking around and found that I might be creating an httpd.conf file and restart the httpd daemon to take that into account. That's beyond my knowledge.
Does anyone have an idea ?
Al

That could work, but the Dune plugin mechanism already provides a way for expanding the httpd, iirc. I don't remember details but at the very least a plugin can include cgi scripts.

If I can't get to work the dune hd is pretty much useless to me, as much of my files are in AAC multi channel audio..can someone help please. Thanks..

I thought Dune support multichannel AAC audio which is common in MP4 movies?

I guess it doesn't, been checking different forums and the best thing you can do is Changing the audio output from HDMI to Optical/Coax aka SPDIF.

I hope there's an update to solve this problem, would prefer HD audio...I have a NoonTec Media player and it does a better job than this Dune ...

Updates are available when they become available. No one knows ETA of anything from Dune.

You're best off contacting Dune support @ www.duneplayer.com.

I was just curious, that's all. I have a smart series and don't plan on getting the 3d. I was reading some of the earlier posts just as a review and it's been a long time since the last firmware upgrade considering the issues still left on the table.

I hope they get something out to you guys really soon.

Hi Everyone......curious to know if anyone has come across any additional 3d movies lately that require you to switch the setting to RIGHT EYE FIRST?
Many thanks

Hi, looking for an internal; HD to use with my TV 303D. I looked around and could only find this link: http://dune-hd.com/eng/support/additional_features/hardware_compatibility

Can any current owners using an internal HD comment on what has worked with make, model, etc? Thanks in advance!

Will the 3D Dune players automatically display forced subtitles tracks on a full disc 3D BD ISO rip? Thanks!

No, NONE of the new players will play forced subs on 2D or 3D ISO rips. The Dune players will play forced subs in MKV files with the patch here:

Unfortunately the patch won't help JaremyP b/c he is asking about Blu ray 3D (The Dune does not support mvc mkv which would be the alternative)

I'm just so torn on what I want to do with media. I've been working on this for literally years and can't settle on a way forward because of all the compromises. I'm running a popcorn hour a400 now and has been so problematic.

I think I just need to build an intel nuc htpc and go that route again for full discs rips in 2d and 3d with menus.

Am looking at the dunes again if I want to skip menus but keep 3d. Or I could get 2 dunes and use a smart for 2d and a 303 for 3d. Really don't need menus for 3d since 99% of 3d discs are main movie only anyway. But then there's still concern about handling of branching and subs.
