Any New 1080p LED Projectors to hit the 2013 market for under $1000?

Thread Starter
I am VERY close to pulling the trigger on an Optoma ML500 LED projector. From the reviews, it's pretty good and handles 720p relatively okay. It will mainly be used for xbox/ps3 gaming, netflix, and internet browsing/youtube. I guess 720p is good enough for me but would love for a 1080p projector.

I will be a first-timer in the arena of projectors and I really don't know what to look for. However, do know one thing, it needs to be LED! I love the fact that you will never have to replace bulbs which cost on average $300 every few years.

As for sound, my basic stereo receiver with two large tower speakers is fine for me.

This will be for my basement (dark room) and will not be moved. I am planning for at least a 110" diagonal white cloth screen.

Also, I really don't care for 3d.

My concern is, are there any anticipated releases for budget 1080p LED projectors for 2013? I would really feel like crap buying the 720p Optoma ML500 only for a 1080p model to release soon after. I don't plan on going over $1000 either. I don't need anything extravagant or high professional. As long as it projects good picture, I will be happy.

An aside, it's crazy how much of a price difference there is between a 720p LED vs a 1080p LED! The Optoma LED ML500 I can find all-day for $500. The next step up from there would be the Viewsonic Pro9000 1080p LED project at a whopping $3000! I don't get it.

If you know of any news, please post it here. I would like to setup my basement theater hopefully soon.

Thanks. I hope my first post isn't too alienating.

I'm not that happy with LG PA70G ( PC gaming ) on 90"
but movies are acceptable !!

I mean you will not get the gaming experience with 720p .. and i was about to pull the trigger on W1070 !!

all i know on the way Optima HD91 - 1080p LED coming out this September
with Image interpolation which is really useful for gaming and some facts lagging and RBE and. .. etc to be concerned
nothing talks about the price yet .... and i'm keeping an eye on it, unless something better comes out that time !!

Image interpolation is the opposite of useful for gaming.

Theoretically frame interpolation should enchance the impression of movies or video games,
practically we would recommend to experience this in reallity before making a decision.

It will be years before you see a 1080p led projector for under $1000. If your looking for 1000+ than check these out.

Heck, I was at xyz store the other day and saw a 70" vizio for $1400, thats crazy. But for projectors I don't see anything cheap anytime soon, that LG laser hecto projector is said to go for 8-10k.

Another 1080p LED is the Acer K750. It is priced anywhere from $1599 to $1799 over at newegg. Info on the unit is scarce - heck the K750 doesn't even appear on Acer's US website!

I'm hoping projectorreviews.com or another US site will review it and make a comparison to the Viewsonic. (or even the LG PA70g)

There is a dedicated AVS thread here - Acer K750 LED/Laser.

Oddly enough, the Viewsonic Pro9000 thread also has some good info on the Acer, particular on contrast measurements.

you can look for Kraine reviews on both K750 and pro9000
and most reviewers ( google ) stated the price vs quality is not a deal
sharpness
no 3D
....etc

I mean alot of features are missing with the high price tag on both at their released date !!
now k750 going down to $1600 range .. but still its not worth it ( IMO )

and here Kraine impression about HD91

Jasperdisplay has a 1080p LED LCOS projector solution out out now...It's just a matter of time now until we see it hit the market...the big question is at what price and when? I suspect the price will be at least one thousand and up..It will likely be affordable...
