Wow. That was awesome.

I can't wait for this game. It will be a day one buy for me.
Holy crap, that was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. Plus, the game looks pretty good.

yeah, tomb raider was kind of off my list. but i'm seriously tempted to get a preorder. even though the logical side of me says it'll be cheap in a couple of months...

i was so truly LMAO when he kept killing Lara over and over and over again.
Yeah, it will probably drop in price in a few months. But I have never not gotten a game I wanted at launch just because I new it would be cheaper in a few months. This game just looks really good. I am looking forward to playing this game.

Sadly this was my ex-wife's favourite game franchise....therefore I can't justify buying it with my post-divorce income until it hits the bargain bin ; D : (.....

I ordered it, looks awesome. Should hold me over until we get a decent release on Prince of Persia.

alright, dug through all my store credits and saw that I still had $25 store credit at the Microsoft Store! Made Tomb Raider a great price. Plus preordering Tomb Raider gives you 1600 Microsoft points! I will be impaling Lara soon! smile.gif

Best Buy also gives you a $20 reward zone certificate for pre-order of Tomb Raider. Plus at the time I pre-ordered you got an avatar skin and a comic book. I will sell those on Ebay for sure. Hopefully I can get at least $20 for those and that would basically bring the price down to $20 for the game. smile.gif

Every time people post about awesome deals at best buy and stores like that I die a little. I live in a very small town with only a Walmart. The closest best buy and GameStop are an our away.

True, but then I have to pay for shipping. Hurry up Tuesday!

Does anyone know how long this is supposed to be? I am hearing it is only 12-15 hours long.

12-15 hours, if that is true, is almost twice as long as the average adventure nowadays.

Yeah, but that might make it a rental from me since I never go through a game a second time.

I would be surprised if that was the case. Historically Tomb Raider games have always been long unless the player does zero exploration. I think the last Prince of Persia game I played, the one where you could freeze water, was probably about 12 hours or so and that was short. If TR is only 1 hrs (for me) I'll just trade it in on amazon or something.
Not glitched Speedruns of CD's old TR games run about 6 hours (15 min a section, typically 4 sections per chapter), 15 hours taking your time and exploring and figuring out the platforming puzzles.

Looks good to me, just hope they didn't go to actiony/gunny. Also, QTE's galore.... ugh
post #19 of 163
I read a review that said that the QTE's were mostly at the beginning of the game, but I am not sure how accurate that is.

Picking it up tonight, can't wait!
I plan on picking this up in an hour before the big snowstorm rolls in. I'm going to Target to get the steelbook and maybe the Tomb Raider controller. While I'm there, I'm going to grab Wreck it Ralph on Blu. If we get a lot of snow, I plan on hunkering down and entertaining myself . Watch a good movie...shovel snow....play some TR...shovel snow...cool.gif

Picked this up on Steam and played it a good 4 hours last night or so. I'm into the 4th area of the map or so. Graphics are damn good on the game. when I made it passed the first area I did not complete it all the way. You will get the option later to fast travel back to your camps so you can go back and complete the whole area on finding the bonus items and events. Game truly does feel like a reboot and the story line has been pretty good. I know you do not want to die in the game, but it may be worth going through a second time and seeing all the different ways Lara can die since there was some brutal ones already.

like we all didn't used to find the highest point on the map just so we could make Lara dive to her death in the original TR tongue.gif

Been playing this for a good few hours or so and really enjoy it. There are some crucial elements I feel are missing so far such as more of the classic "find 3 parts of the broken key to open this door" and "puzzle rooms" but hopefully they will show up as I progress. I've made it to the part where she's back outside and its snowing, heading to climb the tower. The graphics, sound, and gritty feel are all jut awesome. So far this is a very refreshing and enjoyable detour from my typical one dimensional FPS game. As I said I really hope to see some more in-depth and complex puzzle rooms as well as some more involved scavenging. I have yet to go back to other camps so I'm not sure how much value is in that but it seems a bit wasted to have that element and not create a real need, such as an item needed to progress the later camps. Again, it's still early so I'll keep my fingers crossed but so far, aside from some minor gripes I'm pretty pleased with the game.

Oh man, this game ROCKS. Sure, some minor things that annoy me once in awhile (walking so slow in the beginning, etc.) but man this game is gorgeous, great story, so far so good!

Never played a TR game but I may have to pick this one up.

Ok, I am totally hooked on this game. It's just badass and I can't put it down. The horror fan in me loves the gritty violent elements added to this, really takes it beyond what it would have been without them IMO. This room so far was my favorite tongue.gif

I think you passed me General Kenobi since I do not recognize that room. I'm as far as sending out the emergency message and then back at the previous camp. I'm trying to go and get all the area unlocked before moving on in the story line. I have enjoyed the lighting in the game with the torch while you are crawling around in the dark. The horror aspects of the game have been nice as well. I am bummed I am back to work which means I will not get much time in on the game until Sunday night.

I decided to Redbox the game for no more than 5 days, just to try it out. With the constant backtracking to get stuff I saw but couldn't open yet, I'm not sure how far I'll get.

I find it annoying that the axe couldn't be upgraded until I got to the exact spot an u[graded one was required, but them's the breaks. The bow has more upgrades to do, but seems to require more junk than is readily available right now. The biggest help is a treasure map for the area, which adds the collectible items to the map. If you stumble across that map, you are SET.

So far, so good...

My copy finally showed up today, but I have to go out of town for the weekend. Just my luck.
