Help me choose appropriate speaker cable for Denon + Monitor Audio

Hi,

I am going to buy Denon AVR 2113 and Monitor Audio Bronze BX5. I would need some help choosing appropriate cables and plugs.

Speaker cable lenght will be 2 x 2,5m

First dilemma:
Should i Buy single or Bi-amping cables? I don't know if I will benefit if I choose to try bi-amping them. Receiver is strong enough already with single amping, but bi-amping should improve sound....

Second Dilemma:
Which cable?

a) I was looking Chord Silver Screen, but read somewhere that this cable could make speakers sound to bright.
b)I was looking also Audioquest FLX-Slip 14/4 (http://www.whathifi.com/review/audioquest-flx-slip-144). They were chosen as speaker cables of the year...bud author of review used this bi-amping cable and connected as single -amp. I don't know if speaker cables will still be that good if i choose to bi-amp them.
c) I was looking also for Van Damme UP-LCOFC Hi-Fi 2x2,5mm or 2x4mm? (http://www.van-damme.com/25.html) But if i choose to bi-amp, than i would have to buy 2 cables for each speaker.
d) anything else?

Banana Plugs:
Found this plugs on amazon? What do you think? http://sewelldirect.com/Sewell-Silverback-Banana-Plugs-12-pair.asp

Thank you for all your help. This will be my first "serious" hi-fi set.

I suggest that you get a roll of Monoprice 14-gauge speaker wire.

It will cost around $20 and do an excellent job.

Bi-amping is not needed with those speakers. They are good speakers, but are not going to draw enough current to need bi-wiring or bi-amping.

When you get into some very large speakers that have very low impedances at some frequencies, it is useful to bi-wire or bi-amp, but you really don't need to.

Gold-plated connectors are corrosion-free and are always a good idea.

If you are serious about top-quality sound (and it sounds like you are), I would strongly recommend the Cambridge Audio 551R receiver. IMO it will sound much better than any of the Japanese-brand receivers, regardless of price.

My advice is to buy the better-sounding receiver and forget about the bi-wiring or bi-amping. The better receiver will make a tremendous difference in the sound, and the other stuff is unlikely to.

I have over $20K in my 2.1 system, and have learned the hard way over 40 years what makes a difference and what doesn't.

Hello

thank you for answer. I will look into Monoprice 14 AWG speaker cable.

Receiver you suggested is unfortunately way out of my reach. I can buy 3 x Denon receivers for same price smile.gif

I have one additional question. Do you think there is gonna be "enough" bass with MA BX5 in a room sized 4m x 5m, and should go with MA BX6? Or will MA BX6 be overwhelming for that room size. I am not looking to blow up the neighbor, I am aiming at good SQ.

It doesn't matter, wire is wire.

Cables are not something that should be expensive. Many companies offer so much supposed technology to improve sq but in the end there is no difference. If you truely want the best sq get a capable sub. Maybe start small with an svs sb1000. This sub has very good output that is rather tight for such an inexpensive unit. This would be a sweet setup.
