..... Well to cut to the chase, my set is half way in a large window with the back of the set exposed to sunlight. I noticed there are ventilation holes all around the set, but on the silver metal panel inside there were a couple of very small holes which appear to be threaded. There is nothing screwed into these holes therefore the sunlight was going directly into the back of the viewing panel. After blocking the sunlight with my hand off and on several times that solved the mystery. Anyway, I took about 3 square inches of gaffers tape and placed it on the area, behind the TV, where the sunlight affects the screen. There is really no other place in my room to place the TV. Tried it on the opposite wall initially but there was much more reflections and glare. Was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience ? Will just have to monitor the situation and hopefully this will be the end of the issue.
Yeah there have been a number of people here who have had that happen to them (including myself last year with my GT50) and it is scary when you first see that dot due to sunlight shining through the vent holes and illuminating the panel from behind. My GT50 actually gets two dots of light on the panel, but my ST60 in the same spot only gets one. One guy with a VT60 was just about to return it as defective but luckily he posted here and i was able to tell him what it really is and boy was he relieved
