I'm trying to figure out how the Optical Audio Out works. I want to run it thru an analog converter, and then into my wireless headphones.
In the VIERA Link Menu, if I set the Speaker Output to TV, then it works. But if I set it to Home Theater, then the SPDIF cuts out.
So if I want to use my home theater for sound and not use the TV's speakers, how do I also get sound from the TV's audio out port? There's got to be a way..... right?
I wanted to follow up on my issue, in case someone else experiences the same thing. I did some experimenting, and it seems that it was just an "HDMI Handshake" problem -- I left everything else powered on and just restarted the TV, and the audio started pumping out again. It seems like Viera Link has nothing to do with it.
So I re-programmed my Harmony remote to make sure the TV is always powered on last. Problem solved!
