2007 Sony SXRD 60" screen goes black

Hello, I have a 2007 SXRD 60". The screen goes black after working for a couple minutes, it will come back on by itself but then goes out again. I put it in service mode and have no errors. I removed the back of the TV found no loose connections, cleaned out all lint. I removed the lamp door, cleaned everything. Pulled the lamp cleaned up everything. Never found any broken pieces. Put it all back together, back in service mode and still no errors but the screen still goes black then comes back on intermittently. The green power light is always steady, the lamp light never illuminates nor does the timer. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your lamp may be on its deathbed. It's an arc lamp, no filament, so you can't tell by looking at it if it's good. The arc gets harder to establish as a lamp heats up and as it ages. The process to initiate the arc is very different from the process to sustain it.

The lamp light may not be coming on because the tv tries to relight, and succeeds. The tv processor has to try to light the lamp three times (~20s intervals), and fail before it declares lamp fail. That's true whether on startup or in your situation. Also inspect the lamp connector on the tv side and the lamp side, they get very hot and can get flaky. Sometimes on these tvs, as they heat up the lamp door switch goes off because the set warps and things move around, but that should give a flash pattern. Inspect it anyway.

It could be so plugged up with dust that it is overheating, but that would tend to give a service indication or a flash pattern. Also possible that the overheat sensor is going off too early, but ditto. Ballast is an outside shot. My first guess would be lamp. How old is the lamp?

Don't buy a cheap Chinese knockoff lamp for $38. Get a Philips, Osram, or factory Sony.
