Using tower speakers for wides or keep my bookshelf on stands?

Curious on opinion about what to do with my 'front wide' position speakers. My receiver supports NEO:X & Audyssey 11.2.

I just bought a pair of Boston VR3 tower speakers (Almost identical to VR2's but bigger woofers). Thoughts on:

Options
1) Moving VR2's to replace CR77 in Front Wide
2) Sell VR2's, pocket ~$400

Currently I have a 11.2 surround configuration using:

Speakers
Boston VR2: Right Left Mains (Recommended Amp Power: 15-150 watts, 93dB sensitivity)
Boston VR20: Center (Recommended Amp Power: 15-250 watts, 91dB sensitivity)
Boston CR77: Wides, Heights Surrounds: (Recommended Amp Power: 15-150 watts, 89dB sensitivity)
Boston CR67: Surround Back: (Recommended Amp Power: 15-150 watts, 89dB sensitivity)

Power
Denon AVR-4520 (150 watt / channel, .05 THD) - Powering everything but heights
Onkyo M-282 (140 watt / channel, .08 THD) - Powering heights
No dedicated processing or crossovers

Part of me thinks there'd be no difference because I feel they don't play much content. I dunno. Maybe they are more important than I think.

I feel the same way. It seems like Neo:X is just pulling content that should be in the L/R speakers to the wides just because it can... don't feel the "wow" factor with my wide channels, felt height added more of a postiive effect.

I have only had Neo:X for a couple of weeks, but I haven't liked it much, so far. And when I put my ear up to the front wides, I haven't yet heard anything. (I have a 9.2 channel Pioneer AVR.) However, my AVR has a mode "wide surround movie" which definitely uses the front wides, and it sounds really nice. My front wides are large bookshelf speakers -- Axiom M22.

On the original question, since (if I understood) you actually have all the speakers you want to compare, obviously you should listen to each combination. That will be fun.

I have similar options, a pair of ported towers and sealed bookselves of very similar design. I have the towers as L/R, mainly for the bass extension. I find the wides are driven as hard as the mains, thus my duplication of capability.

Note I'm also using Audyssey DSX in an Onkyo 707. YMMV
