See #2.

I really hope they succeed, but they announced almost a year ago and have not shipped their first camera yet. In the meantime, lower priced competition is either shipping - or is about to ship.

For those who want a RAW camcorder sooner, rather than later, the $2995 Blackmagic Cinema Camera is shipping (albeit slowly), and is available for rent.

In addition, established RAW camera manufacturer Kinefinity has announced the ~$3200 (for the first 100 orders) KineRAW Mini.

Digital Bolex is going to have to step it up.

It looks like a niche camera for some people but a small sensor in a big 5lb camera with C-mount ,100-400iso range, no 1080p60 is not my dream camera.

We are not scaling to meet huge demand this year, but we will be delivering the first 100 cameras this quarter, and we will be pre-selling 300 cameras after that. Then when those 300 are delivered (in a much more timely way) we will pre-sell 500 more, and so on raising the number of cameras we can produce each time. And growing our production facility, distribution, and service facilities organically…But we will be delivering a couple thousand cameras this year, depending on the demand it may or may not be difficult to get one, but it will be possible - See more at: http://nofilmschool.com/2013/02/digital-bolex-raw-camera-d16/#sthash.UHcHbPOU.dpuf

Yeah they should continually improve on it, I really love the pistol grip form factor smile.gif

I have a pistol grip on my Steadicam Merlin but the Digital Bolex will need a rig to keep steady and the pistol grip looks like will only be steady with ultra wide lenses.

Does the Merlin require a GH2 lens with OIS or will the image still be steady with a non-OIS/prime lens?

That lens is the Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95 and is a full manual lens with no IS. The Steadicam Merlin is meant to be used with lenses and bodies without built-in IS.

Thanks.
Can you use the Merlin and GH2 for event shooting or does it become tiring holding that for a long time?

The Steadicam Merlin is the lightest in it's class so it could be used for longer periods of time without a belt setup than others. Here is a video clip of someone using it with the GH2 and 7-14mm lens @10mm :
