Rythmik F15HP-SE - Help

I have this sub that I use for music mostly, and was expecting some solid loading of my room which is 11.5 x 17.5 x 7.5. rectangular family room (carpet/ concrete slab) with the sub on one of the short walls near the corner and next to the front left speaker.. But the sub isn't doing much loading. I've tried turning up the gain but the sub is underwhelming for such a massive sub. I listen mostly to classic jazz.

I even had Brian take a look at a picture of my sub settings, to get his advice on crossover points etc.
I took his advice. I use Blue Jeans LC1 cable on the left and right rca inputs of the sub out of a Joule Electra LA 150 mk2 preamp. power cord on the sub is a Silver Audio Wattmaster, which replaced the stock cord. The sub is underwhelming. Any advice?

My system is:
Amp: Bryston 14 B SST;

Cables: JW Audio Cryo Nova Speaker cables

Preamp: Joule Electra LA 150 mkll

Transport: Jolida JD 100;:

Transport: Krell Standard mk3;

DAC: ;W4S DAC 2

Computer: MacBook Pro 13”

CDP: Don Allen Marantz changer

AC Outlet: Maestro

Speakers: Mirage OMD 28

It sounds like you did everything except for the one thing that would actually have helped- placement! You can't just throw the sub into an arbitrary location and expect perfect bass. Optimal placement is crucial toward getting a good sound. My advice is to read up on standing waves, cancellation, and bass acoustics. Try different locations for the subwoofer. Look up the subwoofer crawling method of finding optimal locations. You might also look into a multiple sub setup; multiple subs go a long way toward defeating nulls and dead zones.

Do you have the ability to do any measurements in your room? The reason I ask is that it is hard to tell what is happening at your listening position just by the dimensions and a vague description of the room. Murphy dictates your MLP will be sitting in the deepest null in the room.

Do you have the ability to move the sub around to see if the sound improves? If do have flexible placement options and don't have measurement equipment, the sub crawl could be a viable option.

Some things you can do.

1. Try adjusting the phase from 0 to 180
2. Connect the sub via speaker level connection and see if it improves

is it weak in one section of the room or the entire room ? I have the F15 in a room similar to yours and it really loud,
What is your crossover point and where is the gain setting ?

Bass seems weak anywhere in the room.

An F15HP should be pretty good in a room of that size. Like what was mentioned above, you need to take some measurements to see what is going on. Surely you have an SPL meter to go along with that that high end equipment, right?

1. Try disconnecting one RCA cable.
2. Does the Bryston have gain levels in the back, if yes try reducing it.

Low output signals from the pre-amp???
Maybe try speaker level inputs.

It is possible the bass is correct but you are used to hearing more bass, especially in the 50 - 150 Hz range, with what you had before. Can you measure the response?

The pahse control may also be improperly set. If you can, download a test tone at the crossover frequency, play it, and adjust the phase control knob for maximum output at the listening position. A friend and/or SPL meter can help a lot with this... Otherwise, you may be creating a hole in the response at the corssover point because the sub and main speaker signals are not in phase, cancelling some of the sound right at a critical frequency.

from what i have read on many forum, this sub should destroy your room with plenty of deep bass ... the fv15hp is suposed to be good in >5000cu ft room !!!

if the sub is not defective , id says the problem is not the sub , more like amp/phase/crossover/wire problem
