Digital Channels - Sound Issue

Hi Guys,

Hope you are well.

I am hoping someone with knowledge can assist me on a sound issue I am experiencing.

I have an older model 42inch tv when I view analog channels sound and picture work fine.

When I scan digital channels I get OTA channels like PBS and Fox HD, etc and many channels from cable provider.

OTA Digital channels sound and picture work fine.

Cable company channels ONLY Picture works. I get NO sound.

I have been reading and reading and I am very certain my cable company uses transparent video systems. If you take there digital package they give you scientific atlanta explorer boxes.

So what it comes down to is my TV can't decode there sound encryption. What is out there that I can decode the sound with?

Reading into transparent video is says there systems allow cable providers to send channels in ASI formant or QAM. The channels on my tv come up like 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 up to 2.7 sometimes up to .8

When I read about scientific atlanta boxes it says the boxes have QAM and btsc/sap decoder.

I am confused and your help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You are feeding your TV directly from the cable input no STB in the mix.

No one has no ideas?

Does digital sound get send like AC3, or something and my tv can't decode it?

What tuner box or piece can I buy to resolve the issue?

If you are not paying to receive those channels you are not entitled to view them.

If you are paying to receive those channels, call your cable provider to rectify the issue.

Just because there is water in the neighbor's hose, it is not yours for the taking.
