I'm having my basement finished by a contractor (see basement floor plan) and I plan to have a dedicated theatre room with 5.1 surround set-up. I plan to power my speakers with a multi-room receiver (such as with the Denon AVR-1913). That's pretty straight forward, right...well here is where I start to get a little confused.
I am also having a bar built in a separate area in my basement and I plan to have a TV located at the bar. As of right now, I plan to have two speakers in the bar area (probably to the left and right of the tv) and two speakers in the rec area (that would be sort of like rear speakers).
Reading through the av forum, it seems that installing a volume control switch would help control the volume of the tv in the bar area without having to constantly go to the theatre room to control volume. Questions for you guys:
1) What type of volume control switch should I buy?
2) How difficult will it be to connect the wires and HOW?
3) What type of wire should I buy?
After thinking about the above and becoming discouraged, I thought, how will I get the sound from my TV to the receiver. Seems to me I'd need a really long (and probably expensive) optimal cable to connect the TV to the receiver.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Feel free to mark up the floor plan with your suggestions on speaker l
