Wireless IR Repeater Help...PLEASE!!!

I recently completed renovation on my house. I had the electrician run 5 HDMI cables from four rooms into a closet on the first floor. 1 HDMI cables to each of the 3 bedrooms upstairs and 2 HDMI cables to the living room. 4 of the HDMI cables are for the STBs and the 5th is for my Blu-Ray player. The electrician informed me that I could use a IR repeater so that I could operate the STBs and Blu-Ray player. What he didn't tell me was that the repeater would have to be hardwired to work effectively. Now I need to find a wireless solution that will do what I need. Can anyone suggest a powerful wireless system that will let me keep the STBs and Blu-Ray in the closet and operate the components as expected? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Jeff! I looked in the Sewell InjectIR kit. It makes perfect sense for what I need and the reviews are pretty good. Unfortunately, the dual-band version is on backorder and I'll have to wait until the end of the month for it to ship. Thanks again!

Do your set-top boxes require the dual-band support? Probably best to wait so you'll have a more flexible solution, though...

From what I have read the STBs that I have an IR frequency in the 34-60 kHz range. Support at Sewell informes that I would need the Dual-band for that reason and that if I am mistaken on IR frequency range, the dual-band version is backwards compatible. Does that sound right to you? I'm in no way an subject matter expert when it comes to this stuff.

Do you know if these are in the 34-60 kHz frequency range?

Nearly all Motorola cable boxes use the same General Instruments Cable protocol which is 38.4kHz. The only protocols I know of that are outside that range are Blaupunkt, Thomson and Mitsubishi, which are close to 30kHz. Dish, Panasonic and RCA are close to 60kHz but still within range.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't understand how dual band would come into play here.

Do realize that both your QIPs use the same codes, so you need some kind of addressable system to work around that. Maybe that's what was meant by dual band.

Hey guys, I am also looking for a wireless IR repeater/extender. I just bought a Harmony One. I'll have my TV on the main wall in the photo below; the components will be on a rack behind the wall to the right. Am I right in thinking a wireless repeater is my only option? I've also seen the IR receiver wall-plates. I guess that could also work since the backside of the component wall isn't drywalled. What would I need to make that work?

If you can run wires between the TV location and the rack, you can you any of the wired repeater products, including the <$20 Monoprice dual-band unit:

(if the wall behind isn't finished, then wire is your friend!)
