Marantz 8801 vs Denon AVP-A1HD/AVP-A1HDCI vs ???

Thread Starter
Does anyone have any insight on the comparison of these two units for HT use? Granted, the AVP-A1HD/AVP-A1HDCI costs more but the 8801 is newer. Or is there another unit that should also be considered? Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Something went completely wrong with my post here...

I meant that I own the AVP and I don't think, that the AV8801 will come close to this unit. Read about the specs of the AVP and you know what I mean.
There is also the Bryston SP3 which is said to be better than the AVP. I haven't listened to any of them, however, the AVP is the best pre-pro I ever listened.
The Bryston SP3 costs three times of the AV8801, in the same range as the AVP.

Hope this helps....

Depends on whether the AVP has had the $1000 3D/XT32 upgrade installed or not as the 8801 uses XT32 and the original AVP only uses XT ... significant difference. You might want to check in the AVP Owner's thread as the Thread Starter (ohyeah32) apparently missed the boat on the $1000 upgrade and has purchased an 8801 so should be able to compare it with the non-upgraded AVP.
