Captivator vs. Empire.

TOTALLY stating the obvious, but OMG, what a difference the Cap is over the Empire. Music or Movies, it doesnt matter. I am hearing and feeling things that I didnt know was going on. Even the wife, who could give a complete crap about LFE, commented and said, the couch never shook before, is it working right? LOL.

thank you for letting me gush...

But the real question is how does it compare with your old Lava biggrin.gif

Well that's not a fair comparison! Stack two Empires and then you have yourself a worthy comparison!

I would have just as easily bought a 2nd empire but I just couldnt find one. Then the Cap deal that I got came along and I just couldnt pass it up.

for a moment, I thought someone was actually asking what would be better between the two....

I'm glad you like your sub. Having those 10 commandment tablets against the TV like that would drive me insane.

UGH, I know. One of the trade offs for getting the Cap I suppose. Stupid Target art section...

nope - prolly not even then.

perhaps three or four empires -- I've heard a quad stack of empires at counsil's house --- yeah - that'd probably be about right.

variances =
driver displacement, excursion capability, power capacity, Ported efficiency at cabinet tune of 20hz (meaning the cap driver isn't moving much at all at 20hz) vs. empire which is losing amplifier steam and encountering max excursion at that freq.

epik empire 15" drivers

JTR Captivator 18" driver

Holy ****, that's an impressive driver

I've never heard a Captivator but it must rock because my single Empire literally shakes my living room and dinning room. During a couple of scenes in Despicable Me it felt like an earth quake (ok that's somewhat hyperbole...but everything was rattling). It could be the way it interacts with my room. Glad you like your new sub and if I ever need a new sub (knock on wood) I may check out JTR.

looks like jeff is using the lms5400 ultra basket now. I remember seeing his drivers in house a year or two ago and they looked like an oem fi creation.

Ratm, nice man! Are you on a suspended floor? I know it's tile but with all that light it doesn't look like a basement.. A cap on a suspended floor has to be nuts!
