@zenerdiode, where did you get the Marantz receiver in silver? ( it is a Marantz, right? ) and what did you do with the volume control on the Moneual case?

Yeah, it's a Marantz NR1602. I got it from http://www.audiblefidelity.co.uk They ship to the US (about $60 to Cali) and I just picked up a step up transformer for $50 from Frys to do the 220V. In total, I'd say it was about $100 premium over the black model I could've gotten here due to the shipping & transformer. It also helped that I got last year's model. I think this year's model is gonna cost you, compared to the US model.

I didn't do anything with Moneual volume knob. I output via HDMI, so I'm not even sure it controls anything.

Thanks, I thought it was Euro but wasn't sure. I've got the NR1501. I couldn't pass up the $350 close out price and I really like the low profile design. I think I read somewhere that you can get an flush mount adapter plate/plug for that control knob since you're probably going to use the AVR volume or the TV control.

Words of wisdom....
Have a back-up plan...i.e spare HTPC.

My main HTPC took a dump when moving it across the room; spare HTPC really saved my a$$.

It turned out that the large rubber cover over the new HDMI cable wasn't allowing the connector to fully engage. (No HDCP handshake) A quick circumcision of the plug and I was back in business. Whew!!! WAF is still at max.....
