Looking for LCD/LED's that are Full Array and have Local Dimming

I am in the market for a new flat panel. I am trying to stay away from Plasmas due to glare. This is in a bright room. I need to hang on a wall so this leaves LCD.

My preference is a Smart TV with that has full array backlighting and local dimming. I’m not a Sony or Vizio person so I’m looking at Sharp, Samsung and Panasonic.

I’ve looked through Sharp’s web site and determined that they do not offer full array or local dimming as far as I can tell. Please comment if I’m incorrect.

I’ve looked through Samsung’s web site and can’t tell what their tv’s are. Same with Panasonic.

Do either Samsung or Panasonic offer full array and local dimming in a smart tv? My first choice is Samsung if I can confirm what I'm looking for.

Size preference is 55”- 60” max.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Well your only options are the Sony HX950, or the Sharp Elite PRO60X5FD. Both of which are great FP's and the Sharp Elite is arguably the best FP available. The HX950 comes in 55" or 65" and the Elite comes in 60" and 70"

The HX950 in a 55" is $3200 and the Elite in a 60" is $4500.

If it fits the budget, the Elite would be choice. Check out the Owner's Thread for both FPs on here.

I see. I was starting to wonder if I was barking up the wrong tree in my qualifications by brand. Guess I'll need to check out the Sony and Elite. I was hoping to keep the tab under $3K but I might not have that luxury.

Samsung offers local dimming (feature is called Precision Black) on their new F8000-series, but they are edge-lit. Only Samsung's 85" UHD set is full array with local dimming.

Eventhough it is a FALD it seem to be ''only a amateur performer''

That Link is for the 55LM9600 from last years models.

FYI, CNET reviews for anything other than a plasma should be taken with a grain of salt. (Plasma Bias)

Maybe with you, but my LG LHX is 4 years old and there are very few sets on the market under $5,000 that can touch it.

Check the LG 55LHX Forum, some members have theirs on the market.
Have 2, and now with them calibrated correctly, look Great and Natural. 3360 LED Backlit with Matte Screen. secret is getting the calibration right! (And the Blacks are Black!)
