PS3 w/ HDMI matrix

I'm looking to get an HDMI matrix (I'm looking at this one or this one from Monoprice. My two displays will be a 47" Vizio LCD TV and a 19" HP 720p monitor. The two devices will be my PS3 and a(n) HTPC. I have a couple questions

How would you predict the HDCP handshaking will go?
Would the Vizio be stuck at 720p because of the lowest denominator?
Any one have experience with these matrices?
Is there anything I'm overlooking?

Thanks in advance.

Poorly.

Yes, which is why it's called that...

Are you really wanting to play the PS3 on your 19" monitor, or do you just want the ability to view the HTPC on either? I think you'll be much better off splitting the HTPC output to both devices, and avoid the matrix altogether...

I guess I could have explained my reason for wanting this.

At the moment my wife and I are living in a basement and all of our stuff that's not boxed up or in storage is in the one room we live in. My wife doesn't want to sit on the couch and watch me play MGS4 for the 30th time and would rather watch a movie. So I have an HDMI to DVI cable so I can send the video to my 19"monitor. Sometimes I'd like to play games off of steam instead of my PS3. Right now I have to unplug the cable from the PS3 and plug it into my HTPC and take the HDMI from the HTPC and plug it into my PS3. Essentially just swapping displays. This happens often enough that I thought an HDMI matrix would help me out.

I knew that audio would be like that but I wasn't sure about the video. And if it means that the TV will be stuck at 720p then that's the deciding factor. I guess I'll have to find a more efficient way of switching cables. Thanks.

"Stuck" will depend on each device's implementation. When you switch it may re-negotiate, but it may not. A power cycle may fix it, it may not. Some devices will require a full power unplug (if they retain their settings in standby). Can't tell how much of a pain it will be without trying the exact configuration...
