Polk Monitor 75T vs Klipsch WF-35 vs MartinLogan Motion 12

So I'm planning on a home theater room that is 12'Wx22'Lx7'H that is all walled in except for the doorway. I have a 106" screen and a Sherwood/Newcastle R-972 receiver. I also have a blu-ray player, Direct TV, and yes a Toshiba HD-A35 player. Which of these floor standing speakers would work best with the setup I have so far? I've been buying what I can when I can find a good deal on it. I'm looking to spend around $1300 for all of my speakers F,C,S,R. I already have a sub and the room is carpeted as well.

What make/model sub do you have?

I am planning on upgrading my Polk monitor 50 system and have the same questions as well. I just upgraded my sub to the new SVS PB 1000.

I'd say take the Polk off your list as it's not the same price range. It's currently 250 each, but there is no difference between the 75T and the Monitor 70 series II, or at least not a 100 dollar difference from the review I read hear on this site. If you aren't getting 150-170 on those each it really isn't a worthwhile deal. No reason to overpay for the Polk Monitor 75T. If you actually like Polk over the other two though then I'd say wait for it to drop to 300 a pair, or get the Monitor Series 2 for 300 a pair as there really isn't a difference between the two when you listen.

I don't really see regular deals like that for the Klipsch or the Martin Logan. I dunno which is better either and if you do a search I don't think you'll find a definitive winner among the pack. So if you can listen to both, do it, if you can't, I'd just pick the one with the better aesthetics. The Klipsch do have more of a low end though from what you'll read but you have a sub so that isn't really a big concern.

I built one using parts express parts. A 12" subwoofer http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=295-464 and a SA-240 plate amplifier http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=300-804 in a sealed inclosure.

Nice! Just checking to make sure you have a good sub. Sometimes people want to spend that much on towers and have a wimpy 8" sub. Then it is better reallocate some of the budget. But your sub is a good one smile.gif

As someone who recently got Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 SEs, I would encourage you to look into Ascends CMT-340 SE speakers for the front. They are an Internet direct speaker company who assembles their speakers here in the US. They also have an exact matching center; the same speaker is optimal for the front sound stage. That would give you six 6.5" drivers firing at you from the front smile.gif Then either the CBM-170s or HTM-200s for rear. Fits your budget range.

Never heard of Ascend speakers. They look interesting. Curious as to how they sound without midrange drivers.

Here's the owners thread if you want to ask questions: http://www.avsforum.com/t/629769/ascend-se-owners-thread

I just bought a wf-35 setup from newegg with the rw12 sub for $1000. I'm short a wf floor stander bc they only had one.

I'd check the wc-24 and ws-24 at newegg
