Extending XLR cables.

I couldn't find a specific cable forum so figured I would ask this here.

Now I am just in the process of locating all my av equipment in an upstairs room leaving just speakers, subs and pj in the listening room. And of course seating.

Now I am going to need 20m xlr cable runs to the subs, and was just about to buy 4 x 20m xlr cables. But before I do so I have had an idea.

I currently have an 8 channel 10m xlr loom using Van Damme Star quad cable. Can I just rip the loom apart to give me 8 x 10m xlr cables and just connect 2 cables together using their xlr connectors. Giving me 4 x 20m xlr cables. Will there be any degradation in sq in doing this as apposed to puchasing straight 20m xlr cables.

The connectors on the cables are all neautrik so can not see why there should be any problem with this?

As long as all the XLR connectors are clean and working, using several shorter lengths should be fine. Pro recording studios do this all the time.

That will work fine, especially for a sub woofer.
