Recommended SPL meter or Mic

Thread Starter
I'd like to check the audio levels of my HT but I'm not sure what the "best" cheap device would be. I've done some browsing and the RS Analong Sound Level Meter gets mentioned a lot. I see a few listed on Ebay, and it's about the max I'm willing to spend on one (~$60). I've seen the cheaper Galaxy SPL meters and they get fair reviews, but they aren't listed as going down to low Hz, like 20. I came across the DIY microphone to use with REW but the Panasonic mic is discontinued and I haven't found a post of a new equivalent. I'd prefer an SPL meter over a mic because I can take it places besides my living room to test how loud other things are. Could someone make a suggestion on what they're using?

Check this out.

Many have used the Radio Shack meters for years, with correction, mic's response can be extended into the ULF range easily.

I own a Radio Shack digital, a Cross Spectrum Behringer, a Galaxy 140, and OmniMic System, but I'm likely the exception.

I bought my Radio Shack digital for ~$30.
