Does anybody have any info on the new F5500 from Samsung? I'm trying to figure out when it will be available and what the price on a 60" is going to be.

Anybody know anything at all? Is there even going to be a F5500?
PQ wise, it should be the same as the E550. It will have the updated Smart TV suite and the Samsung familiar "X" stand.

I don't have any info on pricing.
Price talk is not really allowed in this section. A few of the major sites already have it listed so you can check the price directly. As far as picture while it should be close to the 550 no one knows really since no one has one (AT&T least they haven't posted about it.

The 5500 will also have the dual core processor that was in the 7k/8k sets last year.

I believe it's ok to post suggested retail which is all I'm really looking. What sites have you seen it listed on? I can't find any information at all about this model. Anybody know when it will be available?

No idea on MSRP......I dont think it was ever posted........Google Samsung PN64F5500 and your 1stt result shoulld give you an "idea" of what the prices will be when more sites start to list it.......Value Electronics posted a PDF of the 2013 models that listed the specs but so far thats about all we know about the set...

Thanks for the info, I just wish I knew when it was going to be available.

If you need the smart functionality then obviously the F5500 is/will be solid. Otherwise the F5300 will essentially be the same FP. And the 60F5300 is priced at $949 at my local BBY.

I saw that one too and it's tempting because having all the apps and 3D isn't a big deal to me but one thing I read was that the 5500 is supposed to an anti reflective screen and the 5300 doesn't. I would also kick myself if I found out a month from now that the 5500 does have a significantly better picture.
The D530 and E530 had the older, less advanced menu interface, and the video processing was not as good as the 550 series. Perhaps they have upgraded the F5300 series this year, but my guess would be the F5500 will have better overall pic quality and the same menu interface as the upper models. And both the E530 and E550 were priced the same recently at $649 in the 50 inch size around Superbowl sales period. So by that point, the 550 was definitely the better choice.

I called Samsung this morning to see if I could some sort of idea on when this model would come out but the people I talked to were no help at all. The way they sounded I don't think they even knew that it existed but one person said it might be May before it comes out, but she also said that the 5300 and 8500 were not available yet either. At this rate I might just order a E6500 from Amazon and be done with it.
98% of the time when you call 1st tier support they only ahve basic knowledge of products and msot of the time that is limited to what they have been trained on. If it hasnt been officially released then they "have" to say they dont know anything about it since they cant support or give answers on the product itself it would deviate from their script.

Take a look at sites and reports the F500 I would expect to either be at stores now (Best Buy etc) and online within the next few weeks.......The 2013 are slowly showing up so it shouldnt be long now....

Are we assuming the 60" F5500 andF5300 will use a pentile display like last years E550 or will it use the same panel as last years 6500?
I assume nothing becasue it just leads to, well you know the rest wink.gif ........You can always wait until the 1st reviews come out OR blind buy, all depends on what you want out of the TV...

I'm just trying to gather enough information on the new model so I can decide if I want to wait for it or if I should just order a e6500 from amazon. I am getting a little antsy to get a new tv.
If you cant wait for the new models go ahead and pull the trigger on the pne 7000 or 8000 amazon has them pretty cheap now and BB will price match if BB has any left
post #17 of 47
When members here have the model they will post about it, if you are too antsy then I would suggest last years models which can be had at discounts right now (Ive seen both the 648K and 647K below 2500......

Amazon has the 51" F5300 in stock. I am looking for my brother right now, but is this display going to be poor with reflections like the Panasonic S60?
Both the D550 and E550 had glossy screens. Not sure yet about the F5500. The upper Samsung models add the filter.

Anyone seen any early reviews for the PN60F5500? I have to return my PN64E533D2 to Costco due to dead pixels and was planning on doing an exchange for an identical set, but am now tempted by the slightly smaller F5500.

I don't really need any of the Smart TV functions, but I wouldn't mind giving up a little size for better picture quality. rolleyes.gif

Ya I have been thinking bout getting the 51 inch. I'm hoping to see some reviews or feedback before I buy. It's either this or an LG LED. Only reason I'm thinking that is because if the cheap glasses

Wow the prices on these are considerably lower than the Panny ST60 Models.

I might be in the market for this model but that will all depend on reviews and how it compares to the ST60.

Yeah I have been looking at the ST60 model also. I'm hoping for some reviews so we can decide which is best.

Personally Id use the reviews as a tool rather than gospel......Go see the TVs for yourself and then decide....Unless there are some glaring problems, let your eyes do the judging for you....

After a horrible experience with an LED. I'm in the market for a Plasma. I'll be purchasing one from PC Richards & Son. I would appreciate the forum's input in helping me decide which plasma is a good choice. I'm looking for a model which offers superb off angle viewing and one that handles sports great. Thanks!

I understand that both models are the same except for their size, but I want to make sure that I don't purchase the size that comes with the faulty panel.
The faulty panel? Not sure where you are getting this form as there havent been many if any owner reports on this set that I have seen posted to the forum. Eittehr would suit your needs most likely, but I havent seen any reports good or bad on this set so say if it is trully a good replacement. Plasma WILL give you better viewing angles however..

Do you mean pentile?

Thanks for everyone's comments. Sorry for the confusion. This TV is very new and there are not many reviews available. I'm leaning towards the 60inch screen because its closer to my price point. I had a very bad experience with the last panel on my samung 60eh6000 led.

I've read that Panasonic's plasma's are better, but I'm not sure why PC Richards is not selling them. They are selling the Samsung PN60F5500.

It all depends on what you want\need out of the Plasma....Sicne the F500 is in limited supply right now there are limited user experience reviews with them.......you may experience slight differences in performance between screen sizes, but its too early to say if any would be "faulty"....This is a different tech than LCD and panel lottery as youve experienced with LCD isnt as prevelant in the Plasma market........I would go to see the set in person PC richards may have the ST60 or the S60 from Panasonic available for viewing for you.......BTW "better" is all personal opinion and choice, the one thats "better" is the one that suits your viewing and you are happy with no matter what brand it is.....
