No. But the Bose speakers are the weakest part of the system anyway, so even if you could use the receiver and speakers with other gear the speakers would be the first thing you'd want to replace anyway.

My advice is to sell the whole thing and start over. The Bose system does have serious deficiencies in all areas.

What sort of listening do you do, and what sort of budget would you contemplate?

If your requirements are a small sub sat system I would check out the Energy Take 5.1 system or Orb audio. These systems come w/real subwoofers. Bose is a passive bass doesn't really get that low and is kind of bloated. Neither system will break the bank and will probably cost less than the Bose.

I don't see anything to keep you from using the Bose speakers with another receiver. It may involve getting different speaker wires than what Bose supplied, though.You will want to make sure the new receiver can do a fairly high crossover from bass module to sats, though. Some receivers will only allow you to set the x/o at a few points, with the highest one being maybe around 150Hz. The Bose system should probably x/o above that. Maybe 200 Hz. And btw, in spite of what one of the resident experts said, the Bose Lifestyle 12's bass mod is powered; not passive.

As for which surround receiver you get for them, I would just compare then all and make my choice. Within a given price range, there is going to be more similarities than differences. Personally though, I like Onkyo.

dat56, as usual, you're wrong. The Lifestyle 12 has the crossover in the bass module and not the speakers. So you cannot use the system with another receiver. +1 on all the other suggestions. Bose is very expensive and sounds lousy. Sell what you have, some other sucker will buy it for a good price and buy a much better system for far less what Bose charges.

Another reason why I dropped bose. Can't be used with a receiver.
