Am I correct that the ONLY was to decode dts hd ma to pcm (not bitstream) for blu ray rips on a non-commercial player such as mpc hc or vlc is to use the tmt dts decoder? thanks

DTS-ES are typically non-HD DTS tracks with 7 channels, for example the Star Wars Blu-rays used 6.1 DTS-ES for some languages, and DTS-HD for others. Its a simple extension to add an extra channel to the lossy DTS core.
