Man, what a long day..
I have confused myself stupid for sure..
Thanks to you guys for saying it 3 times, I think I now get what I wasn't getting before.
I have been installing this software, or that software, and having the hardest time just trying to get my HTPC to output 7.1 to my receiver.
So based on what you are all saying/discussing I don't need to worry about "Decoding" on the HTPC since I have the Onkyo TX-NR 1010 I want it to do all the decoding correct?
I am just trying to get the loss-less test file (hd_dts_hd_master_audio_sound_check_7_1_lossless.m2ts) from my HTPC to play through the Onkyo and have it correctly touch each speaker.
I have tried Media Player (windows default), Media Player Classic, MPC-HC, VLC, TMT5, imported LAV filters, the dtsdecoderdll.dll and still can't get it to do exactly what I want
Now that I have installed all this software, and filters, different versions, x64 and x86, it sounds like you are guys are saying "Just Bitstream is all I want to do".
Any chance of a simple way to "Bitstream"? I have been trying to get this to work also through LAV or ffdshow, but with the loss-less test file, I always hear only 5.1 (DTS) and can't get it to work on 7.1. Sometimes I can see that it is "seeing" 7.1 input, but still outputting 5.1. So frustrating..
I am willing to wipe the HTPC clean with win7 SP1 x64. Please tell me the most simple straight forward way to achieve Bitstreaming 7.1 audio from any of the apps above. If I had a preference, I would like it to just work in MPC-HC or VLC.
