Does anyone know is there somewhere you can check regarding updates. Does LG post them somewhere or do you have to call CS for information.

Unfortunately the CS I talked to had no clue. They seem to work off some kind of script. They told me that the update was the same update that the LM7600 had. Now from reading my replies from this board, I seriously doubt their knowledge or lack thereof. Hope someone else can answer this for us.

@klopez3709

When you did the update on your 7600 where was Amazon Instant found? I'm getting a little annoyed by this all. I was looking at a movie on Netflix on my iPod then was able to move it to the 7400. I wasn't able to do the prior to the update and that is one of the features listed with the update along with the Amazon app.... so if I have one thing why not the other. mad.gif

Hi, DBE. I remember, I had to power down the TV and when I powered back up, Amazon was found deep into the premium apps area, when pressing "more apps" or something to that effect. I was thinking about going on the LG site and doing a live chat with support, however I don't have the 7400 yet. Where did you find the info on the update - I have been on LG.com many times looking for some kind of update notes and all I found was something about SmartShare.

I'm also surprised none of the other forum members have not responded. If I find out anything once I own the set, I'll get back to you...either way. Yeah, it's weird.

I havent really touched any of the Apps outside of Netflix... i went to sign into the LG Smart World today so i can register my TV and it keeps telling me incorrect sign in or password.

Strange, because i can log into the LG Smart World on my computer exact same info and it works fine...

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Watch the screen and make sure that every time you push enter on the remote it is being registered on the screen. I had the same problem with my LG until I noticed it was skipping a few of my clicks.

I found the following - written yesterday - when looking at the Q&A on LG.com (LM7600).

"We appreciate your patience in this matter. According to our latest information, the Amazon Instant Video service is currently available on all of our 2011 Smart TV products, and as of the latest updates, has been added to all of our 2012 model SmartTV televisions. This function will be added soon to the 2012 Smart TV BD players, and the 2013 products. We will provide updates as soon as such are available."

Seems like they are updating their older models first - which is strange. Guess I need to be patient.

tongue.gif Now that is so true!

I did the update earlier and can't find anything different. I love a good update but release notes please LG. Anyway I watched Avatar in 3D last night. I had never seen it

believe it or not! Anyway...I was like eek.gif Talk about a 3D fiesta. I'm going to have to watch it again just for the 3D...It was that good.

Avatar probably stands alone as the only 3D movie (that I've seen) that had 3D seamlessly add to the experience of the movie, as opposed to being "3D for 3D's sake". I quickly forgot entirely that I was watching 3D in the theater, and just felt so very much like I was *there*.

I talked to Amazon today and inquired about Amazon VOD - the CS rep told me that he didn't see the TV as capable of having the app. I was too tired from work to argue the point. I then tried LG again. The rep told me that if my TV has the serial number beginning with 301, I would have to do a software upgrade, but if it begins with 303, the app is already installed. I truly don't know who to believe. I do know that this TV would surely be capable technically speaking.

Nope, still can't log in... my info works on the LG Smart website but not on the TV itself.

Grrrr what gives?

May not be the same. But I had the same issue. Could log in from the web and not the TV smart apps. Turns out it was password . LG support was no help.
Turns out the cause was password format. I was using upper and lowercase plus number. Reset my password using the web site to all lower case and number and that fixed it.

Now if only the smart apps worked with hdmi ARC I would be all set. Unfortunately they don't. Just ordered a 15 foot toslink to run through the wall.

Guys, I need your help. I wanted the LG and read on Amazon a bunch of reviews with the mainboards going bad. Does anyone know if this has been fixed?
Also, how do black levels compare to say (what I am familiar with) the 25M:1 Contrast Samsung or a SONY XBR?
I will type below what I typed to someone that wrote a review on a SONY W802 stating there was no improvement, and you have to go to a 4K model to get "Triluminous" etc. I cannot find a SONY HX at my local retailer, and so this LG and the SONY 802 are my choices because I had banding and other issues with the Samsung, tho stunning blacks I want.
Does anyone know by an eyes on experience if the SONY W802 or the LG has a better picture and black level?

I want to purchase this Television today...but the reviews on last years mainboards going out has my edgy. Any information on a correction?

TV set delivered and set up. Awesome features and picture. My harmony remote with the LM7600 settings work too. I'm learning the magic remote, especially the voice controls. I really think I made the right choice in trading up for this set. smile.gif

I don't know if it was possible with the 7600 but have you drawn the number of a channel on the screen to change the channel? My daughter discovered this feature. I think it's pretty neat.

I have been trying that but my coordination is not quite there yet. Looks like gibberish when I try. smile.gif

Ughhh now I can't log into the website either, it gives me an incorrect password error.

When I try the forgot password link on the website it now gives me a java error saying null pointer blah blah.

What the heck LG!?

Same thing happened when I was attempting to wipe my info from the 7600. I created a new login (with different email) at LG Smart World, and am able to use it on my new set.

http://us.lgappstv.com/appspc/member/register/memberMain.lge

I tried to login at the regular LG website today and had the same result as you. I think they are different registrations annoyingly enough.

And attempting to deactivate Netflix was another challenge. I finally went into the Smart Menu settings and found it - somehow. Great TV but, oh, boy.

Two questions:

1. Can you use voice commands on the the remote to do text searches on Netflix. In other words, are you able to speak the title of a movie you want to watch while in the Netflix search window and have that title come up?

2. Also, any stuttering or "stop and go" streaming while trying to watch either a 2d or 3d movie via the SmartTV portal (even with a fairly fast internet connection)? I ask because the only pro review I could find was from Jack Burden on the lcdtvbuyingguide. He says, in part, this:
Quote:
Smart TV options are accessed by one press of the far right button on the Magic remote. One problem we ran across consistently with streaming content was a lack of processing power from the LA7400 with movies or TV but even more noticeably with 3D content (where more processing is required). The signal buffers and sputters constantly. This was not the case last year when I tested 3D world Apps. When we viewed some You Tube videos as a last test the LA7400 buffered for a while when loading, then played it OK. But when we switched the resolution even to just 480p the buffering delay resumed.

Does anyone else have this experience? (I'm assuming Mr. Burden had a fast internet connection, being a pro reviewer and all, but maybe I'm wrong.)

Thanks in advance...

I hooked up a 55LA7400 for my mom this week, and YouTube and Netflix played flawlessly when I tested, and that was with a wireless router. (30Mb connection)

BTW, I was also completely unable to get ARC working as another person mentioned in the thread, and had to resort to connecting an optical cable.

I'm planning to upgrade my current Panny 50" plasma AV system to a 3D system, and I really like the LG LEDs and am trying to decide between the different models. I could care less about all of the apps (would be connected to 3 other devices that carry all the same apps) and the voice control / Magic Remote (I am happy w/ my Harmony set-up, and am not interested in talking to my TV) . I generally like my TV purchases to last me at least 3 years, so I'm thinking about going w/ the newest model 55LA7400, but it seems like the differences from last year's model are just the bells and whistles I don't care about.

Can anyone weigh in on whether the display alone on the 55LA7400 is really worth the extra $400 over the 55LM8600 or 55LM7600, or even the lesser 120Hz models?

Why not another plasma? FWIW, my plasma, a Panasonic TC-P50GT25, looks better IMO than the 7400 I set up for my mother. (although the 3D is supposed to be better on the LG)

I've always liked the look of the LED picture over the plasma every time I've seen them on display, particularly the ultra smooth motion in sports/action scenes, which can almost make 2d look 3d. I've never seen that in any of the plasmas I've owned (3 Panny plasmas to date), so i'm ready for a change.

Lol at the ultra smooth motion in sports and action scenes on an LED. More like fake motion scenes. It is called the soap opera effect and as fake looking as you can make a picture. Most people here turn off the motion smoother settings to get rid of that look.

Plasma's do not need to have that feature because the refresh rate is almost non existent as where on LED they need to have it to get rid of motion blur. Some Plasma's are adding the motion smoother option in there for people that like it but it is not necessary to use to remove blur.

Cool_Hwhip was off his rocker, but nonexistant re-fresh?

Plasmas have the advantage of being a natively pulse technology. This is in direct opposition to the sample-and-hold mechanism of LCD which keeps an image static for the duration (unless they're employing a pulse-like strategy like back-light scanning). Sample-and-hold causes trouble with moving objects because as your eye moves to try to follow it, the image is "left behind" and is in effect smearing itself across the retina.

does the LA7400 has local dimming:? also for gaming sakes what is the response time? is in comparable to Toshiba's 7200 tvs?
Yes it has local dimming, but I don't know how it relates to gaming, since I am not a gamer. Hopefully one of our more knowledgeable forum members know more than I. smile.gif

I just got the same number firmware update on my 42LA6200, but I'm not sure what it changed. It didn't update the Redbox app, that still doesn't work yet.

I don't know if there are Changelog's somewhere, as I checked on LG.COM, and it doesn't even have this firmware showing available as of yet.

I think you are lucky if you get any answers from them. I wrote a question on their website asking when the Amazon app will be available. Not really expecting an answer, but may be surprised.
