Every once in a long while, I see a split-second white flash when watching this TV. I have not yet isolated whether the problem is coming from the TV or one of my input sources. I think I've seen it when watching both my Roku and my Blu-ray player, but I'm not sure. I never saw anything similar from my previous TV. It only occurs perhaps once every few days, which makes it hard to trouble-shoot. Has anyone else who owns this TV seen something similar?
New member to the forum and a noob as far as calibrating a TV. Pulled the trigger and purchased this TV at Microcenter for $1199 after a local Best Buy wouldn't price match it. I updated the firmware to 5.03.06.
Anyways, while watching HBO and Showtime shows (True Detective, Shameless) tonight, I experienced the same split-second white flash every so often that James mentioned. I then scanned through this thread to look for solutions. So I turned everything off in "Picture Option" to off except for Black Level, which I set to Low. I've been watching Sportscenter for the past half hour and haven't seen it yet. After changing the Picture Option setting, I also noticed that the picture quality was a little bit more "grainy".
Also, noticed during those shows that when the screen was white, could see some vertical lines in areas that were white (before picture option setting change).
I don't know, overall, pretty happy with the set. No reports of flashlighting and hope I won't ever have any. Unboxed it at 2pm and now its midnight. The tv has been on the whole time, so my vision might be tired too.
Looking forward to figuring out a solution to the "split-second" flash as that seems to be my only major issue so far.
