HSU HB-1 MK2 Amp Pairing

Hi all I'm new to AVS and I've searched long and high for an answer to this question. But can't find an answer (i might just be search engine incompetent)

I've already decided that the HSU HB-1 MK2 is going to be the speaker of my choice. I'm about to pull the trigger on a set but I cant decide what amp to drive these with. From my research on this forum and other forums people tend to choose the dayton amp or an amp thats well above $500.

My budget is 300-400. So I'm willing to get something better than the Dayton, but have no idea what to look for. The speakers will mainly be hooked up to a computer vinyl player. If any of you sound veterans can help a noob out, thatd be awesome! thanks!

Keeping-it-simple-wise, somebody recommended this $90 one recently: http://www.amazon.com/AudioSource-AMP-100-Stereo-Power-Amplifier/dp/B00026BQJ6

A Denon AVR 1913 is $399 lately, but that might be overdoing it. The HB-1 Mk2s do like to get LOUD though smile.gif

Thanks for the quick reply guys!

In most setups I've seen people use receivers but in my case I'm planning on using them as a 2.0 setup no sub. But i do supposed buying a receiver to power them first would give me a head start in expanding.

The denon and harmon kardon are both within my price range but a bit large for how I was imagining my setup to be.

But in the case that I'm planning on staying 2.0 with them, Are there any smaller options?

the dayton dta-100a is the amp I've been looking at and will get if there are no other options. I was just thinking that because I'm willing to spend a little more maybe I'll pick up something nicer. But if there isn't any better option south of 500 I guess I'll go with the dayton.

Have you looked at this: http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/amplifiers/products/upa200? It's a 125Wx2 amp for $349, and they have a smaller 50Wx2 amp for a little less.

Almost any amp will work fine with those speaker. I have had mine hooked up to a variety of different amplifiers, they all sounded fine to me. I think that little Dayton would do just fine. Personally I would opt for something that has room correction like Audyssey.
