It does, and you can configure when it lights up from several different options.

How do I revert back from PC Mode?

I was messing around and enabled PC Mode on hdmi3 (where my Xbox, ps3 and wwiu are connected) and now I can't get that input back to regular mode. Tried deleting and re-adding the Xbox to that input but PC Mode persists with the limited options such as only having standard or entertain mode.

I just prefer the look of normal mode with game mode enabled vs. PC Mode. Help please?

You select the input, hit up to get to that options icon, select Rename and then scroll all the way to the top of the drop down list and choose the one that's named something like "----".

Was messing around with some games.

I am coming from a PN59D7000 plasma and the input lag on the UN55F8000 felt fine with game mode on.

Did not do anything scientific, but when pressing buttons and seeing how fast things react, it felt fine. Felt about the same as my plasma.
Yes it does, however you can turn it off if you like.

Thanks for the info guys.

Wired or wireless? What router are you on? I haven't see anyone else complain, yet.

Yup, it becomes washed out the more to side you get(I'm in a narrow room...lucked out).
If you can use a WIRED connection use it , if I use wireless or wired the connection is bad.

For some reason the F8000 , will not give you the speeds you would get from your computer , a wired connection is at least faster than a wired connection.

The viewing angle is the worst I have ever seen , the white balance drops off and the whole picture get washed out.
The F8000 is a view straight on set , if you want to even try to enjoy the F8000.
My guess is from 0 you may have 7 ~ 10 degrees in any direction before the picture goes of the deep end , not good.

For those whom are wondering about speed and whether you should go wireless or not , simply use the built in browser and go to :

speedtest.net

Check both and you will see that wired is faster.

Have any of you tried mirroring with the Galaxy Tab? I can get it to mirror by going to the App or via "Source", but don't see how to use "Mirroring" under Network.

I've used the Tablet as a remote and have also used the Samsung LInk and Samsung AllShare apps and they're okay, but really nothing special.

Anyone have other thoughts or ideas on how to maximize the use of the tablet with the TV?

Does anybody know any tricks to get motion control or voice control up on their tv's? I've only gotten the tv to go in to motion control once and that was by accident.

For motion if you hold you arm on a 90° angle and your hand open it will bring up motion. You do not need to wave your hand, just hold it there. Also, make sure your camera can see you where you are. You can check in the settings menu or download the camera app.

For voice, say “Hi TV" out loud to bring up voice options.

Hmm, I just downloaded the smartview app on google play and screen mirrored it to the tv very easily. Maybe I lucked out and got the right one.

Best Buy Color Calibrator Came over today. Here is the settings I ended up with. I am somewhat...confused. I LIKE the picture better(as does the wife) but I'm confused why the backlight is so high(with brightness so low) compared to previous settings I was using. I still have the "movie" mode from before and when I look at it compared to night and day...movie mode has a grayish hue on it. Note, he left some of the settings alone and said the color was only off by about 5%(I was using buzzes settings). There is more than one way to skin a cat for color calibration, that's for sure.

I was brave and also downloaded the Correct Smart View App... I cycled through all Four apps and finally got this Green Message on the Left Upper part of the screen...
"This app is compatible with your Samsung GT-P3113." I then clicked on Install and a couple more Clicks and it installed to my Samsung GT-P3113. I tried two of the functions,TV Remote and Screen Mirroring... Both worked Great! It has a couple other functions that I have not tried yet...

Just make sure you see the Green Message "This app is compatible with your Samsung GT-P3113."... Or whatever tablet you are using... Have fun! biggrin.gif

Edit:
I did Register the Samsung GT-P3113 at Samsung Support prior to downloading the above app.
This may be the reason I got the Green Message "This app is compatible with your Samsung GT-P3113."...

I agree that the viewing angle on these sets are absolutely terrible, no question about it. It's actually kind of a kick in the head really - you spend all this money on a set, and if you sit right in front of the screen it looks fabulous, but you can't even have your friends or family over to have movie night with you because only the one sitting right in front of the screen will get a good image - everyone else sitting elsewhere in the room will see garbage. This is a terrible set to consider if you like to have friends over to watch the game or watch movies or game. This is a single man's tv only, or if you and your significant other like to get real close when watching the set. Otherwise I'd recommend staying away from this type of panel. It's a huge step in the wrong direction in my opinion, since friends and family have been gathering around the tv and watching from different angles for decades and decades. Now that's nearly impossible. Gotta love progress.

I got my third F8000 set up now. Some thoughts:

- Something weird with a pixel near the lower-left part of the panel - I don't know what is going on and maybe somebody can explain it - it's not like the last 2 panels, where you could clearly see the dead pixel from any angle. This time, it's virtually impossible to see - in fact it is totally impossible to see - that is until you move into just the right angle. If you happen to catch it at just the right off-center angle, up-close, you can see a pixel is black against the solid colors of the slides. But I move my head even slightly and I have to look for it again because it vanishes. But it always reappears right at the same exact spot - if I move my head just right. Now it seems to me that it's virtually impossible to see and therefore I shouldn't let that scare me off from this set - but I do wonder what's up with that - the other sets it was very obvious I had a dead pixel - this one acts weird. What could cause that? Could it be a sub-pixel issue? Is there even such a thing? Is this anything to worry about? I'm leaning towards ignoring it, but I would like to know what it is. Could it cause problems down the line? Could it affect other pixels later?

- no clouding - again. That's 3 panels in a row with no visible clouding. I think Samsung has really done a great job of eliminating this issue from this year's line. That makes me very happy.

- some mild flashlighting - it doesn't seem too bad - a bit in the bottom-right corner and bottom-left corner, but I don't think it will be a deal-breaker. I'll see how it performs over the weeks, and I've only watched a couple hours so far, but I did use the AVS and WOW discs, and flashlighting really doesn't seem to be too bad so far. I'm hoping it doesn't look any worse on certain content. Also, having SMART LED on low reduces flashlighting even further, to the point where a dark screen looks very impressive in terms of uniformity.

- the pink issue with the white clipping tests: this set has much less of a pink issue when using the white clipping patterns on the AVS and WOW discs. I can go quite a bit higher in the contrast setting before the patterns go pink. It will, but not until Contrast is around 94-95. On my last 2 sets anything over 86-88 would shift to pink. My girlfriend said that to her, this set has the least amount of pink in the patterns of all the sets we've had since we started looking - and she said that doesn't mean just the F8000, but last year's ES7500 too, which also had a pink push. So this is good news for me - I can achieve higher contrast without it shifting to pink. What that tells me though is there is some deviation from set to set regarding that pink shift, which is bad news for those who end up with one that shifts more to pink like my other sets did.

- My other settings copied over just fine with only a minor tweak needed, which is good news. I had the set up and adjusted in no time.

So bottom line - I think so far I"m happy and I'm trying to remain optimistic because really I just want to keep this and be happy and enjoy it - I"m so sick of returns with these sets. I am a bit concerned over that weird pixel acting up - I have no idea what that's about. Maybe it will clear up over time? Who knows? But considering that all these panels have their own quirks, I think that maybe this will be the one that works out for us. We could trade this one in and get one with even bigger issues, so this one seems pretty darn good so far.

I don't think those Best Buy calibrators have any clue what they're doing. I've read many bad comments about their work. That daylight backlight setting seems ridiculously high. But then you say it appears better, and it is daylight setting after all. The Cal-Night setting seems more normal with a backlight of 12 (I currently have mine set to 11, but I'm still deciding where to keep that). The brightness setting on Cal-Night looks way too low - I don't think that's correct. My guess is your AVS or WOW test patterns would not look too good with those settings. Do you have the WOW or AVS discs? I wonder how the basic test patterns would look on your set now? I guess I could throw those numbers in and see how it would look on my set to get an idea.

Hi Eagle ,

As far as the off side pixel , I say give it a while , maybe it will go away in a few days.

I am glad you don`t have a pink push to deal with , and overall it sounds like the 3rd time was the charmer , happy 4U man biggrin.gif
Samsung has put the crap to all of us in one way or another.

Like you said , you could get a panel that is worst , like I said give it awhile.

These sets change like the wind , really , you have to be very patient with them , I am not a patient guy when it comes to tv`s , actually sometimes I am surprised that I have stuck it out for as long as I did.

I guess I am stuck with it , I could have sent it back , but for what ???? I mean it`s not like we have a lot to choose from , Sony , no 46/47 XBR frown.gif , that is a heart breaker frown.gif , seeing that my last 5 sets were Sony.

By the looks of things , I am going to have to pass off the calibration to someone with the proper tools to do the job right , of course that means ISF and not BB`s version of ISF. Sure the 250 price tag is tempting , but if all they do is go to the user menu and change a few settings and call it a day , then that would be a waste of money. If I am going to have to pay , I might as well try to have it done right.

But who the hell knows whats right ?

I mean , is ISF and all there "director intended picture" settings what I want ?

Being a true videophile means I am the director , my tv and I am the one that has to look at it , so IF i get an ISF calibrator I must make it clear that 6500K may NOT suit my eyes.

O__well , I am happy for you , as you have been down a rocky road , none of us need that. We all bought these sets to enjoy , not to mess with.
Damn Samsung .... ( public forum , or else I would surly not be using ellipses ).

Take care , smile.gif

Later ,

Are you supposed to download the app from a PC and then send it to the tablet, or download it directly from the Play Store on the tablet? I've done it both ways, but I can't get mirroring to work. The remote part of the app works fine, but every time I try "dual display" it says can't connect to the network (even though it is connected) and freezes. Is there something I need to do with a setting on the TV to make this work?

To start off with, this is the link to the App I downloaded... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.smartview.tab.tz&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLnNlYy5zbWFydHZpZXcudGFiLnR6Il0.

I downloaded it directly to my Samsung GT-P3113... Then I went to my F8000 TV and launched the app... It then Paired to the F8000 TV and I used two of the functions,TV Remote and Screen Mirroring...
My Router/DSL Modem is about 3 Meters and in the next room over from my TV. Is your TV Hard-Wired or Wireless? If the TV Remote part of the app works fine I am perplexed why the Screen Mirroring doesn't work... You may want to go to the Facebook Samsung Support page... At the top of Facebook Samsung Support page is "Ask Samsung". This takes you to a form to fill out. They respond within twenty four hours... https://www.facebook.com/samsungsupport

Hopefully someone in this forum will chime in and have a better answer... smile.gif
