Thought I'd share what Square Trade just told me.
They only insure tv's up to the retail price, excluding tax, of $2,999.99
Bummer, so my UN75F8000 is uninsurable with them for it costs $6,999.99
I went over the contract and it says:Coverage Amount: TV Purchase PriceDEFINITIONS
Coverage Amount: The maximum coverage amount of this Service Agreement.HOW WE WILL SERVICE YOUR ITEM:
Depending on the item and failure circumstances, We will either:
A. Repair your Product, or
B. Provide a cash settlement or a Gift Card reflecting the replacement cost of a new item of
equal features and functionality up to the Coverage Amount, or
C. Provide a new or refurbished product of equal features and functionality.LIMIT OF LIABILITY
The total amount that We will pay for repairs or replacement made in connection with all claims that You make pursuant to this Service Agreement shall not exceed the Coverage Amount of the Product. In the event that We make payments for repairs or replacements, which in the aggregate, are equal to the Coverage Amount, or provide a cash settlement reflecting the replacement cost of a new item of equal features and functionalityENTIRE CONTRACT
Unless amended by the State Specific Provisions, this Service Agreement sets forth
contract between the parties and no
representation, promise or condition not contained herein
shall modify these terms. (Whatever someone told you on the phone doesn't matter because it's not in the contract.)
I did notice that when you visit the Costco site they have insurance "For TV's Over 1,000" and they don't mention anything about a price cap. When you go directly to SquareTrade there is a drop box with "2000-2999" price range as the highest option you can choose and it says "select TV price range." I'm going to contact them once I'm off work but there is a 30 day return on the policy. I paid under 2999 for my TV but retail it's over.
