I live in Dallas, TX. Can someone recommend a professional calibrator for a Samsung F8000 75 inch. Also, will a professional calibrated set get rid of or reduce the flash lighting on the f8000?

Thanks...............
Calibrator isn't going to get rid of flash lighting. Turning the brightness\backlight down might do the trick but then you lose shadow detail. Btw, what panel version is yours? I'm trying to figure out if flash lighting is due to the different panel types Samsung uses. TS01 is best.

Thanks for the response. How do I determine what panel I have?

It's on the label on the back of the TV, Version No.  Mine is a US02, mfg in Oct. 2013.  I have no idea what it is, who made it, Samsung or other mfg.

I was able to determine the panel version is US02 and the built date is October 13. Do you think I can request Samsung service to replace the panel with the TS01 version?

I highly doubt that, unless something is wrong with your TV and need service under warranty, then maybe you could request a specific panel.  I have no complaints with my US02 panel.  Why do you want yours replaced with a TS01 ?

The only problem I'm having is the flash lighting effect. Is there any evidence that the TS01 panel is better in handling the flash lighting effect?
I currently have 1115.3 firmware installed on my F8000. My mother-in-law's 6350 is currently at 1117.x. Is there an update for the F8000 past 1115? I checked Samsung's site, but it still shows 1115.3.
Just fyi.. I have mine on order and I asked my dealer about the versions. He contacted Samsung and he got feedback that there are no more TS01 panels. All panels now are TS02..

Settings...  I originally went with Movie mode with Buzzard's settings (tweaked some).  I saw some posts about people liking Standard mode better.  I checked it out.  I believe I agree, like Standard better.  Maybe tweak settings little more for Standard.

Hi all,

just picked up a Samsung F8000 the other day and having some issues with it I was wondering if other owners could help with? It has to do with the picture options............

So I have my components hooked up in the following manner:

HDMI 1 - PS3
HDMI 2 - HTPC via Denon Receiver
HDMI 4 - Laptop

My issue is that almost all the picture adjustment options are greyed out on all the inputs. All I have access to are the brightness, sharpness, etc. All the advanced options are greyed out and I cannot access them. Also, when I select 2D-3D in the 3D options, it seems to phase in and out. It will go back and forth between 2D and 3D several times over the course of a couple minutes, then will settle on 2D. It will go back to 3D if I go into the 3D options menu, but then right back to 2D when I exit.

I'm wondering if this is a common problem or if perhaps I need to use different inputs for my components? Any assistance would be much appreciated. Loving the picture quality, but obviously would like to adjust the picture and am wondering about these quirks.

I have to agree, with my F7100 Movie looked better than standard, but with the F8000 I find standard to actually provide more detail than in movie, of course a personal preference.

Do you have the input labels set up? Or "universal remote"? It sounds like the input with all the picture options grey out you have it set up as "PC". Also if not PC mode, it could be in game mode. Go under menu, settings, general. Ensure "game mode" is set to off.

Reference this post to see if the settings not available match up with what PC mode has available.

Sorry I have never heard of this 3d problem. Perhaps just to troubleshoot you could try setting it up source directly and enable 3d, see what happens?

Just received my UN60F8000. It has been great so far but I have one problem and not sure if this is right section to ask about.

When I play 3D videos from youtube app, I can see them SBS but when I press 3D button it doesn't merge into 3Dimage. I see message that you are watching full 3D but I still have 2 images. I tried all different combination of 3D setting but nothing works.

Can someone has answer to this ? Thanks in advance for any sort of help here.

I noticed the same thing. I used Cinema/Movie mode since that's what most posters and Picture Perfect recommends, but frankly it seems too bright, even with the other settings customized as previously posted. In particular, the flash lighting is much reduced with Standard.

Questions, if you please:

-If the settings are set identically in two Picture Modes (ie Movie vs Standard), why is the picture still different? What is a "Mode" besides a combination of programmed settings?

-Are picture settings negated in the Menu screens? I've noticed that the flash lighting is ferocious in the blacks of the Menus (particularly in Movie mode), but it's much better regardless of Mode when I'm actually watching content. What's up with that? It drives me crazy.

Hi I am in the market for a tv and came across a un60f8000af tv set. I want to know what does the af mean ?
I see alot of great reviews and that this tv set has some minor problems. But what do you guys recommend
the f8000 series or the f6300 which is alot cheaper ?

I believe the AF stands for the U.S. version...not too sure...If you have the money and want a lot of bells and whistles and excellent picture quality for an LED then go for the F8000, I don't know too much about the 6300 other than it does not have 3D or any form of micro dimming...I personally would recommend the F8000 even with its minor issues as no TV out their is perfect. The best bet for you is to go to the Samsung website and compare these TV's and see which one best suites you...best of luck in your search and hope this was helpful.

Do you mean the un60fh6003? If so, completely different specs. It's much thicker and heavier, no smart features, half the refresh rate, fewer HDMI ins, no 3D, and generally a less accurate screen.

Thnx for some of the info.

No the un60f6300 which is a cheaper model. I want a 60 inch since I have alot of room on the wall and thw tv needs to be able to handle games my budget right now is $2000 and the un60f8000 is at 2800 right now so I need to save some more to get it but I will do some homework and see what is good for me. I actually do not want a 3d tv because the content I get is not 3d anyway. But I do not see any big panels witout 3d

I also have one digital optical leading from the TV to the AVR so I can feed sound from the TV smart apps into my AVR. I was using ARC, but I needed that HDMI port for my last generation consoles as my next generation consoles stole the all the HDMI in my AVR.

I would still love to figure out a way to stop my AVR from switching to TV input every time I turn it on.

First you have to buy what you want...any opinion here is just an opinion...however their is no 4k content out their, not on TV nor blu ray, or anything that I know...plus you never want to buy brand new technology again an opinion...see how it works first, these TV's are expensive and untested...if I were you, and again an opinion and had a choice between that 55 inch 4k tv that looks outstanding on the floor with their feed (BB) by the way...and the 60 inch F8000, I would go with 60...you will not be disappointed the F8000 is a great TV.

The un60f8000 can be had for 1975 online, so do what the majority of us did and get a store you are comfortable with to pricematch.
