Official Samsung UNxxF8000 Owners Thread - Page 130

I just picked up a 46 inch F8000 from Bestbuy, open box 1600 + 10% off coupon off that for 1500 with tax. I did add the best buy warranty for $190 but I might cancel and switch it out depending on if I find any good deals. TV is in perfect condition, with the full accessory kit, 4 glasses, etc.

Let me just say, this is the BEST looking LED I have ever laid eyes on. Beautiful, even with default settings. I did some tweaks to movie mode and even streaming amazon video looks incredible. It's late so I haven't gotten to mess around with game mode yet, but I am so excited that I am going to play Last of Us again on PS3 to experience it on this TV. That is, sometime between watching three seasons of Game of Thrones on blu-ray again.

I'm not much of a videophile or anything, but I can't find a single thing wrong with this TV. Motion is smooth, colors are dead on, blacks are black as black gets. I actually didn't think I would get any use out of the apps, but they work pretty damn well. It might replace my PS3 functioning as a media streamer. Anyway, all in all, this is TV is probably going to last me at least 5 years. I don't see how it can get any better than this. Tomorrow my butt is going to be planted on the couch for 12 hours.

Anyone upgrade from the es8000 series to this model? Based on what I have read seems the PQ is better. Currently have the UN60ES8000.

Thanks

Hi. How do they compare? Is the F substantially better? Thanks
post #3874 of 6704
well only a few hours in and the jury is still out. I havent found settings for the F that have shown me what everyone is raving about. I will say you can see the speed difference in menus etc and of course I prefer the 2013 model of the smart hub over the ES.

More tweaking to come.

Any of you missing the Smart Led option after the firmware 1117 update?

US for me
It appears that the Canadian version has the Smart Led turned on by default, thus missing from the options.

I was looking on the Samsung website last night and came across a "complimentary Regular (IR) TV Remote Control" alert for the LED 8000 Series Smart TV. I put in all of the information required but kept getting a Model Series/ Serial Number is invalid......try again. Has anyone had any success trying to get the complimentary remote?

I tried that also but no luck. Same error.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say this TV is amazing the picture is beautiful the way I tweaked it. The colors look natural to me, but i have no way of accurately telling. Is it possible to calibrate color temperature standard to 6500k?

Get the serial number from the TV itself by going thru the menus, serial number from the box is missing a character.
that still wont work for the free remote

I think the website only allows certain serial numbers. I tried all the numbers from the box as well as from the TV menu.. No luck..

That remote sucks, anyway.  My TV came with it, along with the touch pad one.  I bought this one from Amazon, only $30.

He got the settings from Plasma TV Buying Guide. We still want to keep in mind that the white balance will be different from panel to panel, so "calibrated" settings that reviewers get are not at all indicative of the calibrated settings for your specific F8000. My F8000 did not look good at all with Plasma TV Buying Guide's settings.

I use a mixture of CNET's settings and FlatPanelHD's settings along with the two point white balance adjusted by eye. The reason I had to do it by eye is because my specific panel had a greenish hue after a couple hundred hours of viewing. This was the case with the "calibrated" settings from CNET's and FlatPanelHD's settings. I quickly was able to correct this hue by eye and without that green hue, the picture is absolutely fantastic on my F8000.

I would strongly recommend you try multiple "calibrated" settings you find from reviewers and make adjustments for your specific F8000 accordingly. All of them are very different, not because their equipment is telling them different things but because each F8000 panel, or LED panel in general, is totally unique in it's picture quality and needs custom adjustments made accordingly.

Here are the settings I use:

Best Standard Mode (Daytime) settings:

Picture preset: Standard
Backlight 20
Contrast 100
Brightness: 45
Sharpness: 0 (20 max)
Color: 50
Tint: G50/G50
Picture size: Screen Fit
Dynamic Contrast Off
Black Tone Low (Helps hide dark tone compression artifacts without compromising too much shadow detail)
Flesh Tone 0
Color space Native
Gamma 0
Color tone Warm2
Digital Clean View Off
MPEG noise filter Off
HDMI Black level Low
Film Mode Auto2 (Best for deinterlacing set top box feeds)
Motion Plus On (LED Clear: On, Anti-Blur 10, Anti-Judder 0 or 1)
Smart LED Standard (I prefer High)
Cinema Black On

White Balance:
R-Offset 25
G-Offset 25
B-Offset 25
R-Gain 28
G-Gain 15
B-Gain 28

Best Movie Mode (Nighttime) settings:

Picture preset: Movie
Backlight 8
Contrast 95
Brightness: 45
Sharpness: 0 (20 max)
Color: 50
Tint: G50/G50
Picture size: Screen Fit
Dynamic Contrast Off
Black Tone Off (Backlight at 8 hides dark tone compression artifacts well enough)
Flesh Tone 0
Color space Native
Gamma 0
Color tone Warm2
Digital Clean View Off
MPEG noise filter Off
HDMI Black level Low
Film Mode Auto2 (Best for deinterlacing set top box feeds)
Motion Plus On (LED Clear: On, Anti-Blur 10, Anti-Judder 0 or 1)
Smart LED Standard (I prefer High)
Cinema Black On

White Balance:
R-Offset 25
G-Offset 25
B-Offset 25
R-Gain 26
G-Gain 20
B-Gain 28

Overall about the same, no major improvements where made.........

CP not quite. I think the interface, new smart touch remote and the much thinner bezel are a nice upgrade. To my eye after tweaking, the picture after dialing in is also better than the ES

So I just picked up the UN60F8000BFXZA today at Best Buy. Sooooooooooo many features on this, I dont know where to begin. This is my first 3D tv. The picture is absolutely gorgeous! About the only thing I'm considering doing is possibly exchanging it for the 65 in model. Outside of the obvious 5 inch better screen, it it worth the $500 difference in price?
Hi everybody just pick up my un65f8000 version ts01 can somebody help me with how find out when this panel was made image.jpg 1609k .jpg file
post #3897 of 6704
Does the basic remote "Info" button work for anybody? I use a Harmony remote and when the TV is turned on, or I switch activities, the TV overlays a banner across the top of the screen showing the Input and input resolution in the upper left corner and the date/time in the upper right corner. I would think the "Info" button would be used to display this info, but when pressed, it does nothing

I am really just wanting a quick easy way to see what type of input resolution various channels are played in.
If you have a cable box hooked up to HDMI 1 and universal remote setup it won't display when you press info.I wanted the same option so I removed the universal remote setup with cable box so now when I press info for the tv it shows resolution and current time.
I'm using HDMI3 for everything. I don't see any options in the menus about "universal remote". Where do I find this?
Nevermind.....I found it and got it fixed. THANKS!
