I did some in depth back and forth on the f8000 and 950 but first a comparison between the es8000 and f8000.
The new f8000 is an upgrade. Smart Hub works better. The remote is more responsive. Screen uniformity is much better. No more clouding on the set I got and no more v cloud. Still some slight flashlighting but that is what you get in all edge lit.
950 v f8000
The 950 has better blacks. The F8000 has good blacks for an edgelit display without local dimming but the ability of the 950 to turn off zones really takes the cake and can add a lot of depth to certain scenes due to the improved contrast. With high quality content such as bluray the 950 edges out the f8000 in color, contrast, black level, and white balance. But I msut say that it isn't a $500 better picture. You have to be really anal retentive to notice it. On network television they are nearly exactly the same.
So my suggestion is that if you have no problem paying a lot more for slightly better performance then get the 950, but know that if you have a dark scene with a bright light(s) you will get blooming that will destroy the picture. Just look at the pictures I attached. The question is how often will that happen?
I'm leaning with keeping the f8000 due to it being cheaper and having a much improved smart hub and connectiivity.
Could someone post some calman settings for the f8000? I used these settings: http://reviews.*******************.com/samsung-tv/samsung-f8000-picture-settings.html
