Four speaker zones, one reciever.

Dear Audio Gurus,

Ok, I went a little crazy ordering speakers for my basement finishing project: I ordered eleven pairs of speakers & two subwoofer for four different zones in my basement...but I only have one receiver. (a Yamaha RX-V773WABL 7.2). Is there a device I can use to use my one receiver to switch between the zones, or run several or all four zones off one receiver? Will I need an amp?

at a minimum you will need an impedance protecting speaker selection switch.....you cannot just wire all those speakers up to the output terminals on an a/v receiver because the combined impedance of the system will drop too low and you risk burning out the amplifier section.

do you intend to have at least one room with full 5.1 surround sound and just stereo is the other locations ???
